I can't believe the prices I'm paying. I mean, I know that lots and lots of people pay the $3.99 for a box of Nutri Grain bars and would be amazed that I get them for $1.38.....but you couponers, you get it!
I guess I should be thankful that I'm stocking up at $1/box this week! I was grumbling to myself last night that I was spending way too much... but I didn't see that there would be a better deal on the horizon, and my family has been asking what's happening to the stockpile.
I used to keep a constant supply of a wide variety of cereals and bars - but now I'm down to Mini Wheats and Special K. We like those, but one of these days there might be a revolt - as in, hubby takes it on himself to go shopping and blows my budget! So, because I live with that fear, I'm forking over a bit more than I'd like.

I completely understand. I just started really concentrating on my couponing after being laid off and having to accept a lower paying job. I saved about 50% without even trying hard a few months ago, and now that I'm concentrating I've had no more success. I was relieved to hear about your frustration since I was starting to feel like a failure at this. Don't get me wrong, I still am close the the 50% mark every time I shop, but was hoping to be doing much better. Let's hope things improve!

I know I have raised my buy amounts on things but I am also switching to more healthy eating...$5 for a gallon of organic meal is a deal and for some reason we go through MORE milk now, it doesn't even taste any different? I do find myself searching the internet more for better deals...
Amazon has some good case prices -kraft Parmesan cheese, whole bean coffee (with coupon) 25#organic wheat berries (with coupon) and I was getting my coconut oil through them even the manufacturer didn't have it cheaper.
But then last week I scored 4 gallons of coconut oil for cheaper through a facebook promo (Nutiva) and got it for less an ounce than Amazon.
I have found an Amish store (NC isn't exactly known for their Amish) about 1 hour that does a lot of bulk food....
I also found Honeyville Farms that ships stuff for $4.99 no matter what you buy and i bought a 50# bag of Steel Cut Oats from them(before i Found the amish store where they are $20 cheaper).

I think in today's market you need to start looking outside the box and yes maybe pay a little bit more, inflation is here to stay for a while.

Our stockpile has dwindled down to nearly nothing and I just had to slash our grocery budget again. I have a whole $200/month to work with and need to feed a family of 7 (2 of the kids are only with us PT, but we go through food like CRAZY!) Not sure how I'm going to do this.
My wishes, hopes, and dreams (so far as coupons go, LOL)
