I've noticed that popcorn does that too, but doensn't seem to have an effect on the taste.
I find that stockpiling salad dressing doesn't work for me--it always expires before I can use it. I guess I will stockpile less :)
I have 2 or 3 but will mention one:
microwave popcorn.
Over time, the oil will slowly soak into the outer package on the "side" that goes "down" when popping. They still pop fine and taste fine, but the oil does soak in, over time. By "time" I'm talking 2+ years.
so, if you eat it every day, then 2 years x 365 days =
it is fine to buy 730 packages.![]()

Salad dressing. Particularly the creamy ones. I don't use that much, so I have no idea why I used to buy so much of it.
Too much cereal. Even unopened, it does get stale after a while, and my family seems to go off certain brands once I actually get some stockpiled. :/

I agree with the salad dressings...and I also agree that it's the creamy ones that I end up tossing out. I'll use the others as marinades, but I get tired of salads really fast...and then the dressings just sit on the shelf. I've cut way back on them, even if they're close to free, because I'd rather save the space for something we'll eat.
For us, it's crackers. We rarely eat them, except during the holidays. But for some reason, I can't pass up a great sale on Ritz or Club Crackers. Then, I notice a few months later, that I still have an open box, and at least one more full box. (I usually send them to my son's house at that point!)
I agree on the cereal, I wouldn't keep cereal around longer than its expiration date, even upopened.
You can throw the stale crackers and also pretzels or pretzel sticks in the food processor and make crumbs--use instead of buying bread crumbs.

Soda, it goes flat, especially in warm climates.
