flash freeze your LO meats before sealing, and it keeps the juices from doing this.

Also- I have found if I blanch the diced onions, they have reduced odor. simply shock in boiling water and drain off excess water. then store in freezer safe containers.

If the other options don't work, you might want to try making foil packets. It makes a big difference when stored in the refrigerator and should in the freezer too. I've never had a problem using freezer ziplocs in the freezer, but I normally buy sweet onions or vadalia when in season which are very mild, but still taste great. A slight splurge, but worth it imho.

I get tons of onion from my Dad frequently and he taught me a trick to storing onions. Since I learned the trick, my onions seem to last months!

Line a milk crate with onion sacks. Line up onions single file if possible. Once a week, rub the onions to get rid of excess dry skins. Keep in a cool dark spot. That's it!

I have never tried freezing onions. When I put them in containers, cut up, in the fridge...my fridge stinks...so I have been reluctant.
