HELP Preventing Roaches...? Please set my mind at ease!!

Hello! I was reading in another thread about storing cans and how the cardboard pallet things they come in are a good way to get roaches...
BUT I STORE MINE IN THOSE CARDBOARD TRAYS!! AHHH! How can I be sure that I will not get cockroaches in my stash? It is stored in our basement and it's not filthy- but I wouldn't eat off the floor either. I am a bona fide worry-wart and this is something I have not thought of.

Get rid of the boxes if you have any sign of roaches. I live next door to a rental & I have gotten roaches twice in about 9 years, after the renters moved out & the landlord apparently sprayed. I still get the heebie jeebies thinkin' about it.

I got rid of ALL corrugated cardboard. Plastic sacks may also bring them in, or allow them a place to live rather. Especially from places like dollar stores, where most of their items come in on cargo ships from China. Not saying you can't get them from American businesses, but cargo ships are rather horrid.

I bombed my house & I now watch my neighbors carefully. If I see a potential issue with their living arrangements, I'll bomb before I even see a roach. Since your stockpile is in the basement, it would be easier to bomb down there as a precautionary measure. It's a hassle, but not as much as it is after you get an infestation.

Okay, so I get not storing anything in cardboard, but what about the cardboard boxes the products themselves come in (like Betty Crocker brownies, etc.) Will those present the same problem?
