Default Feb. Stockpiling Olympics

A few of us here on the boards have decided that we need to do some big time stockpiling this month. Its not a contest, no prizes given, just the satisfaction of good stockpiles and being able to provide for your family.

I'm doing it because our living situation will change in a few months and our expenses will be going way up. Right now we are in military provided housing, in a few months we have to start paying rent. And rent in the DC area is not cheap! I can not work fulltime at the moment as I'm working on my teaching degree and need to spend time in the classroom so I work part time subbing. So our goal is to get as much as we can within our budget (we are allotting and extra $100 for the next 2 months). Not just anything, but stuff we will actually use or that we can donate. I'm not looking to sell any, just getting us a good surplus to live off of for several months. (12?? 18??)

It doesn't matter what your reason is. If you want to state your goal, thats fine, want to share a picture, thats fine too. Just want to share your bargains or look for encouragement? So join in the fun! And...

LET THE GAMES BEGIN (queue Olympic music)

I am in for this one. I am not doing any serious stockpiling right now but just working on it as the great deals come around. I have managed to cut our grocery/HBA bill down from $700/mo to around $400/mo in the past 11 months since I joined HCW, so if I can save that kind of money and still build up the stockpile I am ecstatic!

Welcome! I'll be here for sure this month and probably do a March one too. Then back to the living off the stockpile challenge for us. (or whenever we move..). When I started couponing and stockpiling I cut ours from $400 to $250 and we are eating better than we ever have!

I am in - my stockpile is dangerously low on lots of things that I have not had to buy in over 2 years. I am low on tooth paste (shocking), toilet paper (sad that the free deal I used to get does not come around anymore), and paper towels, among many others. I am going to take an inventory today and figure out what I need to focus on.

I just want to see what you all get and drool.

I have such a lopsided stockpile I need to see what deals you all are getting to hopefully be able to even it out while still living off what I have.

Happy Stockpiling!

I second that PICTURES should be required!

I might post a few picks after getting a ton of chili! (but I'm doing the reverse challenge, so not sure I should really be doing both!)

Default Re: Feb. Stockpiling Olympics

We (hubby helps me shop, he's pretty good at figuring out the deals) started yesterday. Bought 8 papers, that more than paid for themselves.

9 bags of dog food $3.50 (tax only) shelf was $13 each!
Doves Men's body wash - MM after ECBs and Qs
5 glade sprays - will send in for 2 SC Johnson rebates - MM after rebate
4 Advil - free after Q and RR's and will send in for 1 Advil rebate= MM
1 toothpaste
4 bags of plasticware (50 cents each at Walgreens).

I think even counting the papers at $2 each we spent about $38, have $7 RRs, and $.8.98 in ECBs to roll plus the rebates to send in.

We will stock up on Marcal TP at the commissary this week hopefully. Its not the softest, but for $1.99 for a 12 pack (after Q) it will do. I try to stock up on the meat there too, usually cheaper than the stores.

Again, we are aiming for a 12-18 month supply on as much as we can that won't go bad. I'm even going to "attempt" a small container garden once we move. (note the word...attempt..lol).

I want to do both. I participate in the living off your stockpile to rotate my stuff - I can do that and play in here too.
I have been using up so much of my stockpile that now I am so low on pasta it has scared me. I can always use more canned meat and frozen pizza. Plus frozen food season is starting. I think frozen food month is april...but some mirs start this month.

Join in if you want, its ok to stock up on things AND stay within your goal.

Pictures are welcome but not required. I totally forgot to take a pic of dh's awesome trips yesterday.

Oh and to add to my list of items: 5 -12 packs of Marcal TP. 1.99 a pack.
I have 4 more Qs to use tomorrow.
