I do have a question though. Our income tax refund should be in some time this month and when it comes there will be some planned purchases, these don't count right? It's mostly home repair costs but also a couple of household items we have been waiting on. If I have to count those my budget is already blown lol.

It's not really a GC - it's EBT {food stamps} but I consider it a gift card since it functions like one and has similar limitations.
