Just my 2 cents...Paying to move your free stuff is probably kind of silly-probably will cost you more to move than to buy it in the first place! You can stockpile again when you get settled. Having to deal with all the stuff in the mean time just means more work-simplify! I would leave it with your former roommates as a blessing to them.
if life gives you lemons, compost them, go to HT and get free lemonade.

Default What to do with Stockpile while moving?

Title says it all pretty much.

We decided to put our house on the market. But, well, lets just say I'm pretty sure when the realtor gets over here she is going to have to say "something".

I have hid most things. But, well, I'm pretty sure the potential buyers will want to actually open the closet of "stuff". And I don't think they will appreciate a garage full of Clorox as much as I do, or a cabinet of Chex Mix/fruit snacks.

    What would you do?

I figure I'm going to "live" off of what I have now, in terms of food. And no shopping till it is gone.

But, candles, diapers, wipes, soap, toothbrushes.

What do I do with extra non-perisables? If they caught a glimpse of my Kotex, they might think there is a "blood" issue in my house. That would only be fully confirmed when they found my 20 or so bottles of medium size Tide Stain Releases.

I don't want to buy a storage room as that would defeat the purpose of stocking up. But, seems silly to sell stuff (other then Glade candles), when we use most of my stocked stuff often (diapers/wipes, aluminum foil). I've got like 200 or more candles from Glade over the last 2 years. I don't even use their candles. :shrug7: I just give them to family, now they are giving them back.

The only reason we are moving is, I'm tripping over kids left and right. We moved to this house when we had 2 kids. Now we have 5. 2 are potty trained. 2 more probably in 6-8 months (but, they are trying now) and we only have 2 bathrooms. Fine for others, but, I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! My 5 yo peed on herself because both bathrooms were taken by a potty training kid and the other by the "big" kid.

I personally would just box it up. (so you can get it to it of course.) Maybe jut put everything in the closets but in cardboard boxes or in tubs so the contents can't be seen. Obviously if you move you have to box it up anyway. So have it ready to go so it looks like it belongs. I would personally appreciate seeing everything organized but not the contents like you said they may just make judgements on you by your stuff.

The other option is get one of those storage places and neatly keep everything and just bring home what you need. That way it can be neatly stored and safe while you are making changes. It might be a load off of your mind for awhile and remember all this is temporary...

you could stash it inside of luggage. I don't think potential buyers would check inside your suitcase. otherwise, I'd do those totes that fit under the beds. You don't want to have it seem like your house has storage issues.

I agree w/ boxing it up in totes (like the rubbermaid ones that you can't see into) and label them w/ codes that you'd understand.

Like tote #1 has your kotex (omg you made me laugh so hard!!) and other HBA items. #2 has the tide etc, so forth. you can even label them per the room they would go to- kitchen, bath, etc.
If they are boxed in the garage neatly like that, it just looks like you are preparing for the move.
In the luggage is another great idea, and under the bed.

I don't have other suggestions except the already stated ones, but good luck. we are facing a move too and although we won't have ppl coming through i know that moving a stockpile will be ohhhhhhhhhhh so fun.

...but we know why we stockpile and its worth it.

In my experience, realtors have no problem with a garage full of boxes. Not ideal I'm sure, but it is understandable to those looking that you would be packing, and it doesn't seem to bother people much when it is all in the garage.

I agree I would box it up, can you stash it at a friend or family members house? maybe get a 32 gallon trash can and fill it with your stockpile, garbage cans look like they belong and they won't get any damage, plus you can use them at your new house.

I am laughing so hard - I tried to tell my husband about your predicament but I couldn't stop laughing. The part about he kotex and the stain release is hilarious! I am sorry, but I have no advice. I would definitely try to box it up - ou could get a head start on your packing that way!
