Soy Joy bars have to be my most disgusting stock item!! I had been donating them but felt bad - even starving people shouldn't have to eat those :)) Now I give them to a guy at work who only eats "healthy" stuff.....
Ok back when VS had the $10 coupons out there, I traded to get a bunch. Instead of stocking up on their panties which I LOVE, I thought I get smart and get some $12 body washes, making them a little over $2 with tax after the coupon. The body wash smells great, but lo and behold I take it home try one of the bottles and it completely dries my skin out and makes me itch...so I'm stuck with great smelly VS wash bottles that I can't use!
Well then I don't suppose I could interest you in our stockpile supply of 148 boxes of cereal? It does not last long because we support our family plus 2 other families totalling a group of 18. Yes cereal does go on sale, but I do not think I have paid over 58 cents for a box of cereal for over 19 months(not generic or store bought, but the expensive name brand stuff) I only add to my stockpile when I can get it cheap. The inventory does get turned regularly so we are very careful about expirations.
The things I wish we had slowed down on and not got so many of:
peanut butter- it is amazing how picky people who have no money can suddenly get about eating pb and jelly?
hormel compleats- I last summer and fall I kept getting them for free. My family does not eat them and the other two families have slowed down on their consumption. I think I still have about 90 left with 2011 expirations.
Luckily most things we purchase, can get used by us or the other families we help. Our philosophy is if it gets too close to expiration we will "encourage" our other families to try to use some up or we will give to a food pantry. We try to buy things that someone will you versus just getting a bunch of free stuff. That might make my oop a bit higher, but we are more satisfied. (as you are peeking into one of my big freezers and you see my freshly frozen 30 pounds of sirloin steaks that we stocked up on at 2.99 a pound and 4 additional bags of crab legs at 2.99 a pound) BTW that freezer is off limits to the other families. That is our special splurges for our immediate family. No I do not regret stocking up on that sort of stuff!! LOL
This is sure a thread to get a chuckle out of us. Kudos to OP!
For all the people who have a stockpile of Soy Joy's and hate them I have a hint for you.
We had boxes of them also and put them in the garage sale and they would not sell. We even had them priced $2.00 a box.
So, I got a container and put the bars in there individually by the table where people pay and put a sign on them 3/1.00. The single bars sold like crazy that way.
I agree, the Ronzoni Bistro meals tasted like crap! The chicken alfredo one smelled like tuna! Good thing I only bought 2!!
I bought way too much Manwich. I can't even stand the smell of it anymore!
And the Farmland Sausage Rolls, that I bought 50 of, has bits of bone and grissle ground up in them. I should have took them back for a refund. They're still in my freezer after buying them a year or so ago.
I also have a lifetime supply of Suave shampoo, mousse and hairspray. I'm thinking of using the shampoo for hand soap and body wash.
This is the funniest thread ever. I should have went to bed 3 hours ago. Couldn't stop reading till I got to the end.
