Sorry for the cone of silence this week--I was knocked flat by what I hope was a bad cold & was offline for a few days.

Anyhow, on Tuesday I spent $19.04 on a Discover GC (math error corrected $5.96 remaining on that baby) for grocery shopping. I had to buy an emergency pack of EasyUps since the potty-trained kid suddenly stopped being dry overnight & I hadn't restocked since the big ECB deal at CVS last spring--yikes! There's no shock that quite compares to actually paying real money for those things!

And yesterday, we bought pizza since we returned home rather late from my nephew's birthday party--it's always a long drive & as usual, I didn't have anything handy that would be as quick to prepare & it was closing in on the boys' bedtime. $23.54 OOP for a large & a small, ouch! Next time, I'm going to get something ready to go in advance--even the pricey supermarket ready-to-bake pizza's cheaper.

Got $8 cash from a trade (I'm not counting the PP & stamps since they get rolled right back into trades) and $2 check from a rebate previously sent in.

So, I'm not sure how you're calculating previously purchased GC totals. If it counts as OOP, then I'm at $29.58. If not & this is strictly by what I spent of my own money, then $10.54.

CMC(couponsmakecents) is a pro. She has had several a year and has hers down to a science. She has help me several times over the years with pricing and questions.
Not to take this thread too OT, but what do you tell people who ask how you got all of this stuff marked so much lower than retail? I always wonder if the honest answer (couponing) leads to too much local competition.

after I tell them I bought everything with coupons, I notice a lot of negotiations during check out,
Unfortunately where I live there are few stores that are nice about coupons.
Making up rules and mean attitudes about coupons are pretty much the norm around here.
I hate to say it but rarely do I find a store with nice employees much less someone that isn't upset about the extra work that me redeeming coupons causes.

It's why I drive to the better areas to do my shopping.
So a coupon newbie doesn't last long around here.

Anyway, I have a brother in law that use to buy tractor trailer loads and that was my cover He resells and auctions.
Pretty great cover - too bad I can't keep my mouth shut and let people think that's where I get my stuff. LOL
Anyway, now that I have been fully disclosing about q's - they try to make me come off my prices.
I JUST HAVE TO RUN MY MOUTH and tell them about the deal.
Seems like they figure if I got it for that - I can give just it to them.

Honestly my prices are low to begin with - softsoap spa $2, fusion $3, dove and herbal essence $2. So unless it's an older person that reminds me of my grandmother, or someone buying $30 plus - I don't come off at all.

I got extra inserts from my paperboy today! I was so excited. I was awake around the time I know he comes, so I kind of waited in the kitchen until I saw him walk up to the house. I opened the door and asked if he had any extra coupon inserts, and he just gave me an extra copy of the paper! I have never done that before, but so many of you HCWers do it I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

My newspaper subscription expired a years or so. I never renew. I just buy from walgreens or cvs.

For the time I got newspapers delivered. I was in somnia since I want to know what in the paper even though we got the online preview insert still I woke up early and got really excited to get the inserts and ad.

I had a garage sale with a friend that ran the weekend after 9/11. We decided to donate the proceeds (we weren't likely to earn that month's rent) & made that clear during the sale. We also made it clear that what didn't sell would be donated. (I think we had signage.) Anyhow, I was shocked how many people aggressively tried to talk down our prices given where everything was going anyway. I wish I had said, & give to you this response I'm saving for any future garage sales: "I plan on donating everything that doesn't sell to a favorite charity. You are not that charity." Yes, I'm a charmer.
