Default Re: OCTOBER challenge: Living Off Of Your Stockpile. HALF-WAY!!!!!

Well, I'm back from the pumpkin patch. It was actually quite nice out. The rain stayed away and the fields weren't as muddy as I expected.

I bought one pumpkin while I was there $5

Then we made a quick stop at Riteaid on the way home for the free after rebate items. I was amazed that they actually had several of them still in stock. 19.39 but I will get more than that back in rebates.

At this rate I am going to double my OOP from last month. :shrug7:

I still need to go to Safeway and Albies but it's not looking too promising to actually make it there today. I am now waiting for the phone guy to show up to fix my phones. They will be here between 1-6. Hopefully it's not 6 by the time they show up.

DS's are driving me crazy and I think I will be putting them down for a nap sooner than later. I still have the mild sore throat and now sniffles.

I was soooo not happy when I picked up the boys after work yesterday. I dropped them off in the morning with my mom and then she brought them over to Sis' house a couple hours later (so sis doesn't have to get up early). Sis had a little bit of a sore throat last time I heard but I didn't think much of it since I have one too and we were at her house on Sunday. Well when I got there to pick them up she was puking and thinking she had the flu. She got the flu shot on Monday I believe and then they gave her the tamaflu which she took right before she started puking. I sure hope my boys don't end up sick! :hectic1:

Menu:
B: DH Milk, Boys Muffintops, Me Crackerful
L: Boys Sandwich, Me Baked Potatoe, DH Leftovers
D: Oops forgot to put the chicken in the crockpot I better go do that.

Enough rambling. I better go take care of getting dinner going.

Back from the store and it was not good, but not horrible either. I spent $69.60 for everything I need for the next week, which is less than my $80 per week budget. So, I still have $10 left to get some deals. (I was hoping for more...) The bad side of my trip was that I only saved 31%. That's just terrible....

I used some leftover homemade bread last night. I melted a little butter and put minced garlic in it and then brushed it on the bread (after slicing it). Then, added a little shredded cheese (I had colby jack so that's what I used). Baked in the oven at 400 deg for about 10 min. It turned out good. I don't think I will have to spend money on the frozen garlic bread anymore...

I have found this site to be very useful if you have only certain items in the house. You type in the items you have and it comes up with a menu. Time consuming but if you have very little or want to spice it up a bit with the potatoes as mentioned above. Try it out.
Supercook: recipe search by ingredients you have at home

but this second link is the one I use most of the time as it is all typed up and you just check off what you want in it or not.

Recipezaar Recipe Sifter

if in main site remember to open the sifter tab to open up the list. I posted this way.

I had soup for lunch and we are having a spagetti with Meat sauce for dinner.. Yummy...

Woh my freezers are so stuffed and I forget I have to ask DH to go to Shoprite as the big pork loin is so cheap at .99 lb at Shoprite this week. so I guess my budget will be a little more in the red and those two pork loins will squeeze in somehow...

But at this rate I could do better next month if it wasnt going into Thanksgiving and Christmas as I usually have everyone over and I normally buy a lot of product I cant get in the regular stores near me so pricey for the holidays. But have to cut back as not working right now and this is a big help.

Bought milk today for $2.06 but that was all. Cold and rainy here so didn't want to go anywhere else. Spending for month is $103.37

Still no rebates in the mail - don't know why they are taking so long.
B - grits and grapefruit
L - sandwich
D - beanie weanies and salad

Made an apple crisp today to eat for dessert.
