Default Re: Have you thought about stockpiling sugar?

I buy my sugar from a local ingle's grocery store. I buy a "bale" which is 10 4 pound bags (40 pounds) for $16.50. It is pure case sugar and a store brand (laura lynn) I don't have a lot of stores to choose from, Ingles and Walmart unless I drive 50 miles, so this is by far the cheapest option for me unless there is a Killer sale going on, which doesn't happen very often.

I do notice that sugar has jumped here about 40 cents in the last 2 weeks or so.

Sheesh. Here we go again. Last year the crisis was the rice shortage, now sugar?

Don't panic, the price won't go up that much. If you see it free or cheap, buy away.

How do you guys that buy that much sugar at once store it? In what kind of containers??
Good to know it never goes bad, I was curious about that too.

I'm glad to learn that it never goes bad as well...I never would've guessed that.

I'll be stocking up tomorrow when I go shopping though, especially for baking season! :)

After reading this thread I began searching the web for "pure cane" sugar brands and found this link at Domino Sugar to sign up for special offers and after you submit it a brick coupon for their sugar comes up--I haven't printed it so not sure how much it is for. Maybe it can help someone else, too.
