    Default Can you freeze yogurt??

Ok, so we got lots of yogurt that we might not finish before the expiration date. Can you freeze yogurt and if so how do you freeze it?? Do you leave it in its original container or put it in a new one? Once you defrost it can you eat it like normal? Or would it have to be used for smoothies?

I froze some strawberries and defrosted them thinking I could eat them like normal and they were too soggy. So I guess they can only be used for baking, jams, and smoothies!

Thanks in advance for the advice!

buttermilk, sour cream, yogurt and similar milk products are not good for freezing, because freezing and thawing changes smooth texture.
I freeze tons of strawberries during the peak season, and I use them for fruit salads during cold months. I do that with all the fruits when they are in season and save so much money doing it that way.
But if you want to try and freeze your yogurt to maybe add to a smoothie, you might not be able to notice it's weird texture with all the ingredients in there.

My mom always froze yogurt for our lunches, and we loved it! I've already popped some of ours in the freezer. I don't remember noticing any texture difference, but it was 10-15 years ago! lol

When I was younger I use to freeze my yogurt all the time and ate it frozen. It was good just like ice cream. I have some in the freezer now for my kids.

I freeze yogurt all the time. By the time I am ready to eat it at work, it is thawed. Some change texture a little, but others don't change at all.

I got the danimals drinks and freeze them, they turn out fine. Also the gogurts and yoplait kids, trix, etc all make great popcicles.

I also freeze regular yogurts (plain or flavored) in ice cube trays, and toss them in with fruit and milk to make smoothies.
