    Default Stockpiles

Just wondering how large your stockpiles are?? My parents always joke that they would come to my house in the basement if the crap ever hit the fan. I've got between 3-6 months of staples that we eat. We might be bored but we would survive.

My mom always says I have way too much stuff, and gives me lectures on how I live by myself, and having everything I do is completely unnecessary.

Right now my pantry is pretty full, and that's even after I made a couple bags for the food pantry earlier this week. Off the top of my head I know I have a ton of peanut butter, spaghetti sauce, salad dressing, marinade, pasta dinners, and condiments. Plus a whole bunch of Crystal Light.

I have a lot of food stuff, but it is slowly dwindling down. I started working full-time and the dollar store closest to me stop selling papers, so I haven't been getting many coupons.

I also had tons of household and HBA stuff in the basement, but a coworker of mine has been buying a lot of it. I do keep a large stockpile of TP and paper towels as we will always use those.

I think it is great that I don't have to run out and buy stuff because we don't even NEED it. Need in my terms means my stockpile is low...not that we are completely out of it.

People call me a packrat and whatever else, but my pockets thank me :)

Whoa! Ck out those pics! I am sooooo jealous of the Huggies wipes..does someone love Kmart super doubles lol?

I am a newbie at all this..I do have several items that are stockpiled for 1 year..I got 25 chinet coupons and 25 free packs of paper plates at Food Lion, but I gave half to my dad/sister/cousin.

My NEW goal for the second half of 09 (I posted a thread about my dilemna of coupon clipping on the stockpiling board) is to concentrate on obtaining multiple coupons and stockpiling the "item of the week" that is free. For example, I got enough chinet plates for 1 or more years, now I'm looking to stockpile some free hand wipes that are at Food Lion. Instead of constantly chasing the deals every week, if I can just once a week get a ton of something that will last the rest of the year, I feel that will save me a lot of time. I have just cleared a ton of space for food storage after getting some great catalina deals at ACME a few weeks ago.

My issue (and dh's) is that I don't want to get "carried away". Like I only got 15 cans of manwich during the catalina sale a few weeks back, and we could have easily used 50. So now I stress about running out and having to actually pay for it, etc.

I love stockpiling..it's a great feeling to know that if I didn't buy pads, toothpaste, etc for an entire year I'd still have enough and never have to worry about paying full price.

My stockpile is still very small, but growing. It's just me and my son, so I try to not buy more than what will expire before we use it. For other items, I try to stock up on as many as I can. I also shop with family in mind, but I call them and see what they want, and they just pay me back what I paid for their stuff. So it helps them too. I have some items I keep in mind too that I would like to stockpile on. Like just starting to get a stockpile for laundry detergent, and I want to stockpile on batteries and foil as well.
My family jokes calling my stockpile a store too. Asking where the cashier is, and why I didn't ask them paper or plastic! lol (I always have extra plastic bags to use for them to take stuff home! LOL) But it's great to have things we need, and not keep thinking..there goes another $5! Oh, I need this too..add another $3 (or whatever price) on to what I have to spend. In the end, I'd be left with no money for what I really need to pay for..bills! LOL So people can think I'm a hoarder, crazy or whatever. LOL But I have the things I need, I don't need to the run to the store last minute to go buy something full price (although I think I shop more often now, so I'd probably be out at the store anyways! LOL), and it's a great feeling knowing that I'm able to take care of my son and I.

I have several things socked up but I dont have a basment to stock up the way I would like to..my pantery is over full, my whole kitchen is over full of things and its on a shelf in my lundry room then I have a shelf in my bathroom full of things we use often and one in my kids bathroom to. I hate that I have to put things here and there I wish I had one place for all my stock pile stuff. I have two freezers full of stuff also, really three if you count my side by side....

I stock pile something different each week because of sales and coupons..if I get things for free or less than 50/75 cents I may stock up 3/4 things that week if the deals and coupons fall right for that week. To have my mind set on one certin thing each week/month to stock up at a time could cause me to miss out on a great deal for something else so i just stock up on whatever great deal I find for that week..

I dont care if family and friends say I have a store at my home or not when I pay $1 for things they pay $4 or 5 for. The way I see it my stock keeps my pantry full at all time and I dont go broke doing it and fuss all the time about how much i pay for my food and stuff each week..and have to go back next week or not eat. If cash was low for a fews weeks we would still be able to eat pretty good..
