    Default Stockpiling in the garage

I live in Katy Tx and I'm running out of space in my pantry...its small. Can you store things like salad dressing, mayo, canned goods, sauces etc. in the garage and have it be ok especially in the summer? I was concerned b/c the temp. gets so hot.

the canned goods are one thing but salad dressings, mayo, ya know, dairy based items...the heat...i can't imagine that would be a good thing. i live in texas too and we both know we live like bacon here in the summer!if you're REALLY completely out of pantry storage, is there a closet that could hold some? or even some storage boxes that can slide under the bed? Thats a thought. I hadn't thought about that. I wonder what about cereal with the humidity?

Oooh, we live in NV and I just questioned having soda cans out there!! Hmm, maybe it's time to make some room in the house... somewhere!!!

I keep drinks, all canned goods, dry box dinners, jars, and dry packaged food like snacks, pet food, HBA (NOT makeup), paper goods and cleaning goods in the garage.

Anything with short exp dates, wet wipes, oil based things (like lipstick, candles, shortening, anything that will melt) and anything that needs to be refrigerated upon opening stays inside.

Our garage gets hot, but it does stay dry so I don't have to worry about mildew or condensation.

The heat is a major problem for storage here in AZ. Last summer I had bleach stored in the garage and it literally blew up and boiled over (maybe someone knows about this?). All I know is that it ruined a whole bunch of stuff that it leaked all over. I now keep it in the house.

I live in FL, and I keep canned goods, mayo and salad dressing, bbq sauce, fruit cups, etc. out in our garage. My DH made me some awesome shelves from an old bed frame we had. :) I figure they use heat to process that stuff... so what could it hurt? *shrug*

Oh, and I keep our pop out there too. Those are transported on big rigs that aren't air conditioned, so the heat must not be too horrible for them either.

Just another nobody in the midst of all the somebodies.
