Default Is it ok to eat?

Just grabbed a breakfast meal out of the freezer : Aunt Jemima Sausage and Egg Scramble, and the vacuum seal is broken on one whole side. I decided to put it back in the freezer and grab another of the same kind and there was about a one-inch part of it that wasn't sealed either. So then I put it back and grabbed a Scrambled Eggs and Sausage w/hash brown instead. It was completely sealed. Would you eat the other two meals even though the seal was broken on it? These are fully cooked foods that just need reheating, and I know some foods come in a box with no other type of packaging other than the box (like precooked sausage links) so I'm wondering if these are still ok...:shrug7:

The box was sealed, right?

I'd say if they haven't been in the freezer more than a couple of months, I'd eat them. The vacuum sealing is present to stop freezer burn/dehydration more than anything else. If they taste kind of dried out after heating them, just throw them out. Hey, at least you tried.

I agree with der, as long as the box was sealed. Plus, I'd write the company and let them know :) Maybe they'll send you a coupon or two as an apology, couldn't hurt!

The label reads:

RECOMMENDED USE BY:

MAR 10 03249
EST9132 E3 0128

I'm not sure how that label is to be read, but I think it means March 2010. I bought them AFTER March of this year, just in the last week or two actually, so I HOPE that's what it means LOL! The other boxes read the same.

Eeewww...lol

I wouldn't eat them and call to complain. They may issue you a refund or the equivalent in coupons. I did with some Horizon Organic milk I got with my "Free Milk " Catalinas from Pathmark. The milk was soured the next day after I opened it. (It wasn't my fridge, either lol) They apologized and sent me a check for $15- (the price of the three gallons, though I only paid 1.10 a piece after my Cats) and I was still able to take them back to PM for an even exchange.
