    Default Your crazy Shoprite stockpiles

What does everyone have stockpiled from SR sales that makes your family think you are insane? I was reading an online article about "hoarders"... and we are talking people who pile up literal garbage to the ceiling. One even slept in the yard as a result.

I was thinking "whoa"... then the article pointed out "tip offs" like buying an entire case of soap or soup or cereal just because it's on sale. Um... do many of us here have PROBLEMS?

Anyway, off the top of my head, I have, mostly from SR... well, let's just say a LOT of:

    Deodorant (free)
    Bodywash (free or close)
Shampoo and conditioner (each family member has a pile of their favorite) (cheap)
    Toothbrushes and toothpaste (free)
Oxy Pads (after cats, they paid me)
Feminine Hygiene Products (free or very cheap)
Benefiber (dh loves the stuff @@) (they paid me after cats)
    Ziploc bags (very cheap)
Electrasol tabs (ok, ok, 45 boxes, but they were 40 cents each and I do run the washer twice most days)
    Progresso Soup (very cheap)
Chex Mix (only 35 bags I SWEAR!) (25 cents a bag or free)
Chex Mix bars and other various granola bar type things
Cereal (pick a flavor, any flavor) (cheap or free)
    Salad Dressing (free)
    Ketchup (free)
Chili (tons at 50 cents a can)
    Peanuts (cheap or free)
Mustard (I just rotated my cabinets and was stunned to find 16 jars of mustard... all of which they paid me to take!)
    Powerade (just paid tax)
16 cases of Bottled Water (but it was all FREE after MIRs!)
36 boxes of BandAids (dh coaches sports... I am not totally crazy!)

I think I am getting low on:

Contact Lens Solution (but I have tons of $2 Qs... just waiting on that sale )
    Tuna

Should I be worried or are all of you nuts too?

I also have a great stockpile of most of that stuff plus don't forget all the various yogurts that have been cheap lately.

This week it is the Breyers - pineapple and raspberry are both awesome...

I may have a problem or maybe I just have food storage or maybe both...

I have a ton of lysol from the lysol sale a few weeks back.
I also have a ton of airwick mini's and glade oil candles. Not to mention a ton of toothpaste and Pert shampoo.

You would think that with so much cleaning products I would have the cleanest
house imaginable. But I don't, lol.

I just absolutely love stockpiling. My husband thought I was crazy in the beginning but after he realized how much money I was saving he couldn't believe it. He likes it when I turn to him and ask him for $10 to pay for $80 of groceries.

between shoprite, rite-aid, and cvs i havent paid for shampoo/deodorant/toothpaste/toothbrushes/razor blades/air fresheners in years. i got like 25 cans of chock full of nuts coffee(we drink about 1 can a week and love the ny dark roast). Will be buying more next week. at one point i had 20-25 bottles of coffee creamer that was all free. getting a little low(please bring back the $.75/1 international delight creamer coupons). i also got enough knorr pasta and rice sides for at least a year. i still got like 20 bags of texas toast crotons left. i probably have enough Endust cans to last my entire life.

I seriously can't figure out what parts of my stockpile are from which stores. Out of SR, stop and shop, A&P and all the drug stores, I'm just glad I have a good enough stockpile

My biggest stockpile of an SR item last year was the santa cruz lemonades. They are beyond delicious but we ran through them too quickly!

I have to have my "collection" of Marcal single roll TP because of all the Chock Full of Nuts Coffee.. So I wont need TP for a year....what problem????
And I'm just weird about ziploc bags - probably because I could never afford them before couponing, so when I can get em cheap, I load up.

Weaselguy, those croutons are sooo darn good! I like to crush them & use them as the crumbs on the chicken when I make chicken Parmigana. Yum!
OK, really, I like to eat them right out of the bag too

Oh, I totally forgot about the 30 Glade Scented Oil Candles... they were paying us with cats to take those in December. I had more but used them as stocking stuffers. I also have 40 or so Glade Wisp candles... it was cheaper to pay just tax than to buy refills. That is sort of an environmental crime.... I have to think up some craft for the empty glass jars.

Freecycle or a large rummage sale. Far Hills is taking stuff now for their semi-annual monster VNA sale so all my Glade plugins are going there. I've donated the kind of glass candle jars you mention--there's always some crafter out there who scours rummage sales for cheap supplies.

Thank goodness for my stockpile, it's made it so I haven't really had to buy any cleaners for over a year now (except those pop up wipes), pasta & sauce for a good year, cereal I can pick & choose my price, & I've got enough $.30 packs of Marcal napkins to last about a year, too. No need to buy toothpaste, shampoo, bandaids, deodorants, Excedrin, adult allergy meds, razors, soap, or any of that sort of HaBA for a long time--actually due to expirations on toothpaste & deodorants, I pass on free stuff now. I only get them if they're money makers now.

One thing to watch out for: kids' fruit snacks. They get very funky (or at least we had one that did) as they get close to their expiration. Smelled like the base for prison hooch, that's how funky. It might have been temp fluctuations, of course, but watch out for expirations on stuff before over stocking it. And be sure to rotate. I write expirations on the packaging in big numbers with a Sharpie when shelving stuff.

And I've read those articles about hoarders (I think that Chester Twp lady w/ the cats wasn't far from where I grew up--they built a lot of enormous houses on farmland up the road) and I always wonder about where I fit on that spectrum, too. I guess the difference is an emotional tie to the stuff among the hoarders, which shoppers who actually use their stockpiles (as opposed to just admiring them) don't have.

It's funny you mentioned this topic: since I've been spending time cleaning out stuff for donation, I've been thinking a lot about it!
