    Default Yogurt

I'm in almost the same dilemma as LadyWaterWind. I found some great yogurt coupons, and at the same time, a great sale on yogurt. But I'm afraid that I'll have leftovers by the expiration date.

    Can you freeze yogurt?

    My granddaughter loves to eat.

Yes!!! My daughter loves frozen yogurt when she comes home from school she eats it with a spoon like italian ice only more creamy! And thats what I snack on when I'm craving icecream, it's just as satisfying without all the calories. I haven't froze the "Whip" kind but so far all the others work great!
P.S. Have not tried to de-thaw after frozen, so I am not sure how the consistancy is (but it's great frozen!)

Generally yogurt is good for a long time past the sell by date. If it has gone bad you will know it. There will be visible mold or it will taste or smell wrong. If it tastes good and looks good you can eat it even a month or more after the date.
I can't be done shopping, I still have coupons left!!!

Plus I also use frozen yogurt to make smoothies, no ice needed.

I freeze all my light (> 100 cal) yoghurt, it make a great snack food for me as I am dieting - it takes longer to eat and is more "filling" than refrigerated. Great idea using it for smoothies, Corrinesmama! I will definitely try this next time.

You can always insert a popsicle stick throug the foil wrap and freeze it into yogurt pops. This was a great snack for my little boy last summer when I got a great deal on yogurt.

I love using it for smoothies! If there is a sale or clearance on the big containers, I freeze the yogurt in my ice cube containers. Yummy yum!

Absolutely - I havenot paid more than .20-25 for a 4 or 6 pack of yogurt since I've started couponing. If you wait until they are short dated and get reduced in price [my Kroger store is my main supplier, LOL] and marks them down anywhere from .99-1.25 when they are 1-3 days from expiring - with .50 c/o doubled or $1/1 - I get all they have and freeze them. Mainly DanActive and Activia here, but also individual yoghurt cups marked down to .15-20 ea - use with appropriate coupons [again mainly Dannon, $1/10 or $1/6 combined with the free wyb 6, but also occasionally Breyer when there are coupons for those. I've never seen shortdated Yoplait though - perhaps they pull them instead and return or destroy. Yoplait we only get when it's on sale in combination with another store reduction deal going on.

You'll need to eat them while they are unthawing - if they are fully thawed, the texture changes [flavor remains the same] and is no longer smooth and creamy, unless you whip it up. We'll eat them as frozen yoghurt treats, or make parfaits with fresh fruit + granola out of them. I rarely have less than 20 packs of yoghurt in the freezer and we have some nearly every or every other day...

I use the same approach as the previous poster and wait for dairy markdowns and combine these with coupons. I rarely pay real money for yogurt anymore.

I eat is completely thawed. The only two yogurts I have found that drastically change in consistency are Stonyfield Okios and Dannon Activia. I think everything else tastes the same after it is thawed.

I agree. I don't keep much things past the exp. date but yogurt and sour cream are great after they expire. It is because of the cultures in it I was told. So stock up and save some money.
