| Stockpiling - Nervousness at the registers So when we stock pile at a sale, we tend to buy a LOT of the same thing...
How do you all handle it? Are you just so used to cashiers rolling their eyes that it doesn't bug ya anymore?
Say the sale is a week... Do you go a few times a day every day and pick up 4-5 every day.. Do you hit up every store in a 10 mile radius?
Just curious.. I have a lot of coupons left for a sale that ends tomorrow... Just couldn't make it to the store as much as I'd hoped. I use this item a ton and will be bummed if I can't get the rest.
__________________ I shop at Lowe's Foods, CVS, and Food Lion. In my area I also have Walmart, Rite Aid and Harris Teeter, but they are a bit far.
Item I want to stockpile this month: Toilet Paper. Goal: Free to near free. If you see a deal let me know!! I'm new to this! |

| Re: Stockpiling - Nervousness at the registers I know what you're talking about. I have to say that it really depends on the item. You might not have been couponing at the time, but there was a KY rush not too long ago, for the overage that the coupon allowed. I didn't buy any, but I would have been totally freaked at the register with more than 2 of those. Can you imagine facing the male cashier with 20 KY tubes?
But if it's something like Chex mix or cereal or paper towels -- normal stuf flike that -- I don't have any problem putting a ton of them up on the belt at the checkout. |

I do feel really nervous and my heart pounds i get all paranoid that they think im crazy buying so much of the same stuff. lol |

| Re: Stockpiling - Nervousness at the registers the most I have goten at once is 10 of something, and I felt nervous, but it went well LOL I am 'socially anxious' anyway, so I am sure the cashier didn't mind as much as I perceived her to- you know? I have not tried more than 10 of anything yet, but if I had the Q's and the right sale, I would def do it. Just grin and get it over with, the free/cheap food is worth a little uncomfortable moment. :-)

| Re: Stockpiling - Nervousness at the registers I'm just starting to get over this. Most of the time they're either excited for you or don't even pay attention. I went to Kroger today and got 20 snapple, a case of water, toilet paper, cake icing, and a bag of sunchips and when my total was $4 my cashier didn't even blink. Like the pp said, they just turn on auto-pilot lots of times anyway. To beat it all, she accidentally rang up 21 of the drinks instead of 20, but customer service gave me the 1.08 back without question.
Anymore what makes me so nervous is waiting to see if an RR or Catalina is goin to print or if my mega deal credit is going to show up.

| Re: Stockpiling - Nervousness at the registers Since Shaws limits to 6 double coupons I tend to stick to 6 of each item or less depending on the sale. I have no problem packing my cart full of goodies and paying $20 oop though. Believe it or not I've never had someone give me an issue and DH just makes cracks about "getting the getaway car ready before they catch on to me" |

| Re: Stockpiling - Nervousness at the registers I used to be like that Ikea commercial where the lady looks at her receipt after she pays and rushes out of the store like she just committed highway robbery. Then, I realized, they really don't care. Every once in a while I encounter a cashier that seems jealous of my low order, or even loves it, but for the most part they don't give a rat's behind.
One thing I do though, is if a cashier comments on how cool my deal was on item x, I come right back in, grab the products for round two, and go right back to their lane. I always say "it was such a good deal, I figured I should do it twice." They usually smile, are very encouraging, and ring up the deal again for me. "Auto pilot" cashiers are fine, but enthusiastic ones are even better

| Re: Stockpiling - Nervousness at the registers Thank you all for the wonderful replies =)
I have 20 coupons left, and the store limits to 4 of the same..
I guess I'm stuck looking for other stores around here. I would probably be near tears if I did 5 transactions. I don't have it in me.
It's totally FREEE pasta though. You just have no idea how this house goes through it's pasta. Lo mien, spagetti, you name it...
