| Re: Stockpiling - Nervousness at the registers I just hate it when the cashier asks "What are you going to do with all this XXXXX". Hmmm, none of your business!!!!

| Re: Stockpiling - Nervousness at the registers I only go to 2-3 cashiers at my store. When I walk in, I either get everything on my list or just a few...depends on which faces I see at the registers. The most that I have bought of anything at one time was 12 (I didn't clear the shelf...lol). The cashier at that store asked the customer service guy if it was okay bc I had qs making them free. He laughed and said yes it is fine! Little did she know he had transferred from my store to that one and he knew me.
As far as people behind me, I waited for my turn so you can wait for yours. That being said if people have 3-4 things they can go ahead of me. People are always in such a hurry! I have a friend that tells me all the time that waiting in line, a slow poke in front of you in traffic might just be your guardian angel or God saving you from something.
PS If a cashier asks me what are you going to do with all of said item, I tell them it is great to wrestle in!! Now that wouldn't work with all itmes such as razors, tweezers, etc but the look on their face is rather funny.

| Re: Stockpiling - Nervousness at the registers My biggest purchase by far was this past weekend when I bought 80 cans of the Sweet Sue chicken at a Save A Lot -that I hadn't been to in years!
What I did when I went in was made a bee-line straight for the manager on duty and asked him if there would be any problem with me getting all 80 with my coupons. He said it wasn't a problem at all, and even joked was I that coupon guru from the Oprah show that he heard about! LOL
So, I got all 80 cans and there was at least twice that much still on the shelf, but anyway, the manager scanned ONE can and ONE coupon. He punched in a couple buttons on the register and ALL the coupons came off at once. My total went from $80 to $20 in a blink and he thought that was "THE coolest thing to ever happen" in his store. (his words)
It took literally less than 30 seconds to checkout since we just left the cans in the boxes and there was no bagging to worry with. It could not have went smoother and he told me he hopes I come back soon because he wants to watch me do it again!
I doubt I'll have many 80 item transactions again any time soon but it really helped me to get over myself.
Sometimes you just have to jump right in the cold water instead of wading in waiting to get used to the temperature. KWIM? |

Thank you for my giggle for the day... Reps to you for making me laugh because my day did NOT start out well.
Personally, I think I am now past this stage... cause I will buy 100 of whatever the heck it is I want and not blink an eye. OTOH, if I wanted 20 tubes of KY, I'd likely watch for the meekest, wimpiest looking teenage boy at a register and chat airily and stare at him the entire time... LOL. I suspect he'd be more red than me.

| Re: Stockpiling - Nervousness at the registers I have no problem walking in and buying 30 of the same item if I need it for my stockpile. I look at it this way, I usually don't get to the store to hit the sales until a couple days after they have started, so yes, I get shut out alot, but if I go in and they have a ton of it, I just buy whatever I have q's for and don't bat an eye. It usually isn't that cashiers that give me the funny looks, it's the people in line behind me that usually get irritated LOL. Too bad, so sad, I have been doing this for so many years it doesn't even phase me anymore LOL. |
