Default Can shampoo be used in carpet cleaner?

I need to shampoo my carpets and the stuff to use in them is so expensive i was wondering if anyone here has ever used anything else to shampoo their carpets??

I used to put a cap of snuggle liquid softener in it to make it smell good *im out of that atm though*

I would pay the money for the correct stuff. There is no way possible to get all the soap out of the carpet so you don't want something left behind that will attract dirt.

I don't know about the other brands, but the bissel stuff is awesome. I couldn't believe the dirt it got out of my car's seats.

A very cheap and good cleaner is Purple Power. It is sold in automotive stores as well as Walmart. Somewhere around $5/gal. It is concentrated so mixes well with water. We have used it several times in our carpet cleaning machine and works great. A little goes a long way.

Default Re: Can shampoo be used in carpet cleaner?

I bought a filthy microfiber chair from Goodwill last weekend.
I was out of cleaner for my Bissell Pro Heat so I added some watered down Tide to the soap dispenser.
It worked well, and my chair looks brand new and smells great.
Don't know how it would work on carpets, but it worked on my chair.
