I always felt I should be generous with all the good deals I got and shared them with my family members, but now I'm realizing that I need to stop this. Plus if there ever was a disaster of any kind I would probably be the only one in my family that even has a stockpile, so I had better let them buy their own things now so I can keep my stockpile growing. It's just hard for me to turn them away when I have 5 of an item that I got for free or little money and they will have to go pay full price for 1 because they ran out.

I have tried and tried to get my other family members on board with couponing, bargain shopping and stockpiling, and they just will not take the time to do it. I showed them the great deals I was getting in the hope that it would be incentive for them to try to get good deals too. But it didn't work, instead now they come to me and say "Can I buy some things from you since you probably got a really good deal...better than I could get I'm sure." And at that point I say "Oh...just take what you need." I was happy to help them out in the beginning, but now I really must stop but it's hard since they know I have this stockpile now. :hectic1:
I do the same give and give to family that won't take time to learn couponing. They don't ask for things but when they are in need I'll give more than one item...now I'm needing to rebuild my stockpile of soap (all kinds), paper products, and HBA "freebies or cheapies". AFA food goes, I'm trying to feed my family "healthy foods" and foods from scratch...still trying to figure that out!!! Still learning to cook! :hectic1:

I'v NEVER been able to keep cereal, snacks, or drinks in the house for long and there are very little good deals in my region (LOND) so I've held out on these items but stock up on rice, oatmeal, canned goods, and sale meats. I plan on using my church's canner to can the dry goods in #10 cans.

I probably ONLY have a 3-4 month supply of items! I want to have my family covered so my goal is 6 months then 9mths then a year!!!

Still learning the ropes. I think I've done great as far as far as shampoo, body wash, razors and detergent go. I have more than a years supply. It's food that i'm still green, such a rookie. lol Hope to get up to a years supply in that area as well.

I stockpile stuff for my own family, am doing great with HBA, and not so great with food items (we are quite picky when it comes to food, will not buy anything with trans fats, prefer small amounts of saturated fat, do not eat a lot of sweets, cookies, etc.) I donate HBA items to some family members in need when I have extras. My goal is not to pay for stuff and have enough to last us at least a year.

I have decided to stockpile any non-perishable that I can get for FREE or that is a MM. You never know when that great source for extra inserts will dry up, so I just keep buying the products that don't have a "use by" date.

I also like to stockpile up to a year's supply of any food item that I can get for free or close to it.

I need more laundry detergent like a hole in the head, but the Purex is BOGO with a BOGO MC at WAGs this week so I used my (3) BOGO MCs to get (6) bottles for free. As long as it is stored properly I think it will last indefinitely and I have the room to store it in the laundry room, so why not?

I previously posted about my stockpiling goals on 6/4/08. Time to update!

Since my diabetic and anti-immunity thyroid diagnosis (waiting for blood test results to confirm) and knowledge we are relocating within 24 months, we've altered our stockpiling habits.

I continue to stockpile non-perishables like TP, toothbrushes, and floss when very cheap or free in moderation.

We eat fresh so our grocery stockpile is quite small but well stocked.

We are working through our HBA stash to convert to natural and less toxic HBA products.

I have a solid stockpile of everything else we need including the 30+ DS Lite Stylus pens for our son.

My original goal was not to see how much I could stockpile...but how long I could make $500 last by couponing. It has turned into so much more! Family of 2, with 2 spoiled cats and 2 spoiled dogs. More $ has went to the pets, than myself! I still have $50 left of the $500--been hanging in that range for about 4 weeks...and rebates when they come back will add to the total, and items I'll sell in a garage sale (which I have a couple hundred worth of items I'll be selling). I've been spending about $3-$5 per week lately on food because the sales and overages have been so good. At this point, I now have a year+ supply of Electrasol, laundry detergent, all personal hygiene items including tampons, light bulbs, household cleaners and all medications for colds, flu, migraines...you name the ache, I've got the cure! and many items in the pantry to get us by for months only needing to buy milk, eggs and meat. Because I have put this $500 experiment in as a plan, I am really only buying things if they're free or close to free. Once I put items in a sale and add back to the budget, I'll breathe easier, but now I'm being really picky on what I buy...even being picky on only getting frees...we have more food than ever. It's been so fun :) Original Goal Nov-Aug for $500 (we were spending $100-$120 per week to have "nothing to eat" FUN FUN STUFF!

At this point my goal for stockpilling is to reduce spending by using coupons and going for specials to the extent that I stock only 'frees' and MM's .

I surprised myself in finding that this goal is actually possible. I've been working on free and mm and cheaps (10%) for the last 5 months since DH had issues with my boxes of stuff. I promised "only free stuff honey".

So now he is the one who spends big moolah. And all is right with the world!

I have been couponing about a year and the HBAs are in pretty good shape but food not so much Other than pasta, rice, baking mixes, cereal, and some canned things, the food that seems to be obtainable free or nearly free are not necessarily things we use.

I think after a full year's cycle, I have a better idea of what is going to be a stockpile price so I need to revisit my list, adjust my "will pay" stockpile price based on what I've learned, and force myself to not look at HBAs at least one week out of every month. (OMG!) Oh, and pick up the free freezer my brother has sitting and waiting for me! That will help alot.

Well, I have loads of the personal stuff and have decided to only get what I can get for free once I get my stockpile of baby wipes up.
I think I am going to focus now on the Frees or really close to free except for fresh fruit, milk and eggs. I would like to save my grocery money and take my husband on a surprise weekend away trip for our anniversary in the fall. I have not been good at saving money. But even in the clothing area I have the next size up for all six kids.
I do want to stop buying for my in laws. They don't even want to come up to pick it up. They want us to bring it to them. So after this week I will no longer buy for people who won't coupon themselves.
