    No question is ever dumb. That's how you learn. We all had to start somewhere.
    It depends on the policy at each individual store. Some will give you both items free, others won't. Even at stores that allow you to get both free, if you get a difficult clerk who doesn't know what she's doing...
    It always pays to know the policies at the store you are shopping and carry a copy of the coupon policy if there is an official one published. I usually take a highlighter and mark the areas which might cause problems so they are easier to find in a pinch.
