| Toilet Paper, It hurts my head! I can pretty much stockpile anything and everything EXCEPT TOILET PAPER. The other day I was in Target looking at the TP wall. Buy 2 Cottonelle or Scott XSoft and get a $5 GC...They were $12.99 each. Then I see the 8pk Scott on sale for $8.99, then I see the cottonelle 6pk for 6.99 then the Nothern for $5.99. Then I start thinking about the 1 ply, 2 ply and 3 ply then Single Rolls, Triple Rolls, double rolls... THEN I think it doesn't seem to matter WHAT kind of TP I get we are going to use what we normally use. Without getting into bathroom habits, I know that I pull the length I am used to pulling and don't normally take thickness into consideration (And I am pretty sure most people are creatures of habit).
Cottonelle is thicker than Angel Soft and everything is thicker than Scott and nothing is thicker than Charmin (I like to call the TOILET CLOGGER I won't buy it).
Yesterday I was in BJs because I needed cat litter ($8.99 for 42lbs) and DH (the accountant) was with me. I explained to him my problem. He was no help. I look at the shelf tags and theirs is "per 100" Per 100 what??? They were big monster packs (which is how I used to buy this stuff before I started couponing because it is just a pain to buy) and the Scott (normal) and office kind were the cheapest by "100"- Even their store label was more.
I go to the store and literally stand there in the TP aisle staring at the stuff. If it is FREE then I have no problem but that seems to almost never happen and if it does I only have a few Q PLUS it always is the single rolls that go so quick anyway.
I guess this is a partial vent/part cry for help.

| Re: Toilet Paper, It hurts my head! hehe. This thread made me giggle... sorry OP :)
I can NEVER get a good deal on TP... I have pretty much given up even looking. I just grab Scott when its on sale.
We actually were down to one roll of TP until last night. That one lone roll was being passed around to three bathrooms, lol

| Re: Toilet Paper, It hurts my head! uuummmm...I am with you. I did recently stock up (3, 8 count packs) on TP at Publix with the Quilted. It was only because I had $2 off IP and they were on sale. Other then that this is one of the only things I can't figure out and really it boggles my mind to try to understand it. Therefore, I am no help to you except to tell you I am the other girl standing on that aisle with you starring into LA LA land wondering what is the better deal....LOL

I grew up on Scott 1000...so nothing hurts my butt...but my standard is $0.25 a roll or less. So a $1.00 for a 4 pack of Scott works for me. Scott lasts forever, even if some folks don't like it. A 4 pack of scott lasts a whole week while the other brands we can go through a 4 pack every 2 days.
However...I have a stockpile of Scott Extra soft that I got for free...so free is my favorite price of course.
I think the best way to price anything and know if you are getting a good deal is to check the price of comparable generics and try to beat that price with sales and coupons.
Otherwise, if it is just too much of a hassel...buy a big pack at a warehouse store and call it a day!

| Re: Toilet Paper, It hurts my head! Am I the only person who has an every growing stash of Marcal? While I used to use other brands.. I have a little boy who likes to dunk rolls of TP in the toilet for fun... a 4-pk for tax only tax is the best way for me to go.
