If your DH is like mine, there is a very simple solution to your problem that some posters alluded to here already......

HIDE IT.

My DH will only eat what is right in his face. He will not move a jar to see what jar is behind it. He will not move the frozen pork chops to see the chicken right behind it in the freezer. Armed with this valuable knowledge of the male species....I place things I want to stockpile and time release to him in the back row of the pantry, or in non see thru containers in the closet.

It works for me. Give it a try.

LOL - that would NEVER [not in a million years!] work here. Obviously my guy is not a real man [yet], LOL! He'd mess up my entire pantry on a search...

Too bad DH actually searches: ) He knows I'm sneaky and would be one who would hide something yummy for myself! (only once in a blue moon and still he always finds it).

Many great ideas here-mine is a different approach. What about not eating the stockpile, but providing a healthy alternative? With longer Summer hours & the kids playing outside constantly, they will burn more calories. If no one has a weight problem, why not? Maybe the kids are having a growth spurt? Why not try making something sweet in a large size like an Apple Crisp with Oatmeal crunch on top?

Apples are a super value, nutritious & filling. You could do a crock pot version. Apple Chips if they want something crunchy? Scientific studies show that cinnamon, apples & pumpkin pie smells make men feel relaxed & happy. There is a wonderful Apple Crisp recipe on hillbillyhousewife.

I make a wonderful breakfast bread, using a box of Gingerbread mix with tons of shredded carrots & zucchini & instead of fluid required on box-I add 2 cups of eggwhites. It is super-high protein & fiber, is filling & inexpensive. Apples can be substituted for the veggies-I usually add 2 cups of veggies by the way. The consistancy is weird, but we love it.

Gotta train them - lol.

My horns have shot out & the steam has flew too many times. Everyone here always asks now ....Can I open this?

It does make you mad when they dive in and demolish everything in the blink of an eye - that used to happen but now they realize and appreciate the whole idea behind stockpiling (that or they truly are afraid of the beast - lol).

Well, this was an old thread. After a couple of years of couponing, stockpiling and hiding...my kids know most of my secret hiding places. But, they know that if it isn't in the main cabinets they better ask before they open it or suffer the wrath of mom. LOL

Show him how to make the cake with apple sauce instead of oil and then it is less fattening. After all it was free, and it is very, very yummy. Especially when you don't have to cook it. :-)

I have decided that I am going to have lay off on buying so many sweets. I am the bad one in my house, yes hubby likes sweets, but he will just eat a few before bed. I on the other hand am home all day and when those sweets call my name I come a running! I ate 2 1/2 if not 3 bags of Keebler cookies in 1 week and I ate most of them by myself. Now that the temptation is gone I tell myself I can get back on track and eat right.
