Re: Inspiration - Stockpile Pictures! Hi All,
Like others, we are LDS so we always have atleast a year supply for our family plus others! He, he! So we can alot of our own items so they will last longer. But instead of using the #10 aluminum cans, you can use plastic juice bottles. On the bottom of most Juicy Juice, Capri Sun... there is the abbr. PETE under the recycle symbol. This means these PETE bottles can be used and reused and are of a storagable material. So I package whatever I want in them (oatmeal, cream of wheat, granola, hot cocoa, rice...) and add an oxy pack to them (to remove all oxygen from container) so they stay fresh and this makes the shelp life sometimes 10 years!! It's really incredible!
What is missing from these pics is my incredible diaper stash (in baby's closet and she's sleeping!) our water supply (45 gallon blue barrel) propane-keroseen- coleman fuel tanks for our camping grill and stove. We like to think we are very prepared for the unthinkable but we'll see!!!
Feel free to ask anymore questions!

Oh, as for the climate control issue- our garage is completely finished and fully insulated. It is heated but we have never had to turn it on! We live in N. Idaho so we see freezing temps for atleast 4-5 months out of the year and high 90's in summer time for about 2 months. But my garage is very tolerant. Never gets too hot or cold. I even still keep mayo in there. (my floor is carpeted too! Cool huh?) I thought they were all like that? Maybe I'm wrong? |
