Sorry everyone! I haven't checked in this thread in awhile. Oops!

We have been couponing/ stockpiling for 6 years now. The first year we started was really great. We only had one child so we could afford to increase our grocery budget to accomidate buying a year in advance. There aren't any items that we will ever buy less than 20 of. (most are 30-40 actually) So every week we would buy what we needed anyway plus what we estimated to us in the next 12 months. These were ofcourse only what was on sale. There were many months that we spent waiting on that perfect sale/coupon deal so we had to go without and find other meals to make in the mean time. Within one year we had all the items we wanted to stockpile and we just replaced them annually.

It has been the same for 6 years now. But ofcourse there is 5 of us now so we buy more than we had before. Companies like Quaker and Kraft put the same items on sale more than once a year so we'll have another chance to replace them if needed. This is the most important key to stockpiling. You will never make it until the next sale if you only buy what you immediately need. Then you have to be disciplined enough to go without or you splurge and pay full price!

During the weeks that nothing was on sale, we just made sure we kept puting that extra $20 week aside for when the deals came.

As for our long term storage- we don't have any pictures of those items up yet, but I will work on it. This list is what our family would need to survive solely on food storage for 12-15 months. We have more than half these items and the rest is planned for this year.

We have planned to store:
600 lbs. Wheat (Hard Red/White)
100 lbs. Flour (unbleached white)
100 lbs. Corn Meal
150 lbs. Oats (Quick)
200 lbs. Rice (White)
150 lbs. Pasta
25 lbs. Cream of Wheat (Farina cereal)
100 lbs. Potato Flakes
15 lbs. Shortening
8 gal. Oil
25 lbs. Peanut Butter
10 qts. Salad Dressing
60 lbs. Honey
200 lbs. Sugar
25 lbs. Brown/powdered Sugar
10 lbs. Molasses
70 pts. Syrups/Jams/Butters
25 lbs. Fruit Drink Mix
200 lbs. Dry Milk
30 cans Evaporated Milk
50 lbs. Whey (some flavored)
150 lbs. Beans- dry
20 lbs. Split Peas
20 lbs. Lentils
20 lbs. Dry Soup Mix
5 lbs. Baking Powder
5 lbs. Baking Soda
3 lbs. Yeast
25 lbs. Salt
5 gal. Vinegar
300 gal. Water
20 gal. Bleach

Most of these items are in 4 or 5 gallon air-tight buckets. When stored properly many of these items have an indefinite shelf life.

Everyone, keep their pics coming! We ALL need inspiration!!!

Denise~

I want your stockpile.

My DH would kill me, too. I currently have a small shelf that is 2 feet by 1 foot and I am putting my stock pile in there and DH says I have too much. LOL. I bought him his 6th deodorant (it was 50cent!) and he said in his panicky high-pitched-freak-out voice, "I have too many already! I don't need anymore! Aggghh!"

Oh my! I'm LDS too, but my stockpile *definitely* isn't that big. I don't think anyone in my ward has a stockpile that big either - but that's probably because we live in a suburban area, and there are stores everywhere. Ama-za-zing stockpile Denise!
