That is one amazing stock pile! I am just starting to stockpile our stuff but I don't think I could ever have one that big. No CVS or any place that has good deal like theirs. =(

It's an abbreviation used for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Commonly known as Mormons.

crabtree....I have a question.
You mentined LDS and your stockpile.
Is ones of the "rules" of LDS that you need a 1 yr. stockpile?
I'm curious.

I will take an attempt to explain this as best I can. We are guided to be as self sufficient as we can be in our lives. They recommend us to have as much food storage as we can have according to our home and budgets. It is a challenge to biuld this up, but the idea is to be prepared if something happens in our family situation, such as a job loss or a major event, or a natural disaster or things of that sort.
I don't know if this answered your questions, but I tried to answer it in a way that it was understandable. If I have confused you please let me know. I will be glad to try to clarify.

Jackie

This is just a good idea for anyone, LDS or not ( I'm Church of the Brethren myself) Also, learning older skills of canning etc. are a good idea.

I think everyone should learn to hold there own. you never know what will happen tommorw.I try to be as self reliable as possable.there have been times where we lived off our food stock piles.it help. every pennie spent on it is well worth it. that why freebies are so great. you never know when that will be needed but it is great to know it is there.

I agree that this is a great thing for anyone and any faith. If we can all be prepared for the things we don't see coming it will help us all. I am so excited finally be having a stockpile. It take a little bit to get it going, but I finally relized I needed to start getting the items that we would use, not just have whole wheat and stuff like that. And another big thing I have learned is you have to be able to rotate your food too.

You are all an inspiration to me. Thanks for always sharing your pictures.
Jackie
