Will you come organize my house? LOL, geez!! Fantastic job!! I am so jealous of your pretty shelves and your already tagged clothes for the garage sale (as opposed to my bags and boxes here and there that I will now have to locate and begin tagging thanks to your superior show of skills that YES, it can be done!).

I always save the hangers from baby clothes, and invested about $20 in extra kid hangers and a tagging gun. Paid for itself immediately, because I had only ONE person haggle with me on clothing price. ONE. If it's clean, neat, hung and tagged, people just don't seem to argue about your prices.

WOW!!! I really need to learn your skill on that. I have a grandson and I'm trying to start a stockpile for his things.

Hot Coupon World » Blog Archive » Extreme Couponing versus Hardcore Couponing

QOTH used one of my stockpile photos in her article on Extreme vs Hardcore couponing and I would like to make my comments on it.

My stockpile is located in the furnace room of my basement and is made up of 3 sets of shelving. One for food, one for paper products and HBA and one for cleaning supplies. None of these sets of shelves are even completely full, let alone overflowing. That, in my opinion, is reasonable stockpiling. This is my total stockpile. The only things that are in my cupboards and closets upstairs are the things that are actively in use. If anyone snooped around, they would never know I am a hardcore couponer unless they found the basement shelving.

I do not buy more than my family can use before it expires. I do purchase as much as I can when it's something like laundry detergent or a nonperishable that I can't find at my buy price on a regular basis, but not 100 or more of anything. I don't buy junk just because it's cheap or free.

The couponing shows try to portray couponers as crazed hoarders and in most cases that could not be farther from the truth. But nice, normal couponers don't make for good TV. I am not a fan of the shows because they support misuse of coupons and make the stores rethink their policies, making it tougher for those of us who use coupons correctly.

I totally agree!! My husband made me shelves in our carport, with doors, because well, we have a carport and not a garage. I have cleaning and pet supplies in one, HBA and DD toy box in one, and food in the other. Overflow inside the house is minimal, and usually consists of either the stuff we actively use or the stuff that will not survive the Ga heat of summer. I don't go nuts on things, I don't think I have purchased more than 20 of any item (sometimes I wish I had more than 20 Q's, LOL) but for my family, we have 5 kids, 2 who are off at college, but lots of peoples in and out. So, stockpiling makes sense, but hoarding does not.

Just out of curiosity, what are you planning on doing with all of those?

Larissa, Nice pics! I love it! (And I am going to show these pics to my husband---I keep telling him we need more shelves) And I am 100% with you on that new-couponing-show-which-shall-remain-nameless...I wish everyone would stop watching it. The network's bad behavior is just being reinforced as people continue to watch.
    How many days until summer?
