CHEF I need some *CHEERIOS RECIPES* please.

I bought a bunch (imagine that! ha!) and we just aren't eating them.

I'd love some tried and true recipe ideas, please. I tried googling and nothing is jumping out at me.

Sweet or savory is fine- I have enough to make several different things!

    Thanks!

What about using them for a Chex-type snack mix or in bars like Rice Krispie treats? Look up cereal bars and use these in place of other cereals mentioned in the recipes. Allrecipes.com is a good site.

Or, maybe if you buy the "Froot Loop" type cereals you could mix some Cheerio's in with those.

Have you tried adding a teaspoon of sugar and some sliced bananas, strawberries or blueberries along with the milk?

I think you could use them in this recipe:

    15 Minute Cookies

    2 cups sugar
    ½ cup peanut butter
    ¼ cup butter
    2 cups oatmeal
    4 tbsp. Cocoa
    1 tsp. vanilla
    ½ cup milk
    2 tbsp. corn syrup

Mix first 4 ingredients, and bring to a boil, boil 1 minute. Stir in remaining ingredients. Can substitute nuts or rice crispies, or coconut for 1 cup oatmeal. Stir til holds shape, drop onto waxed paper.

OK, this isn't a recipe, but I used them (along time ago) to potty train my boys. I used to tell them to sink the cheerio's, at least then they didn't "miss". LOL

This one is a favorite in my house. Easy to make and oh so yummy!! The recipe calls for flake cereal, but I've always used either Cheerios or Rice Krispies in it. Also, I've never put the dried fruit in...mostly because I didn't have any on hand!

    Quick Energy Hiker's Bars

    Prep Time: 20 minutes
    Total Time: 20 minutes

    Ingredients:

    3/4 cup packed brown sugar
    1/2 cup honey
1-1/2 cups peanut butter (I like chunky)
5 cups whole grain cereal flakes
6 ounces mixed dried fruit bits

    Preparation:
In a saucepan, stir together brown sugar and honey. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add peanut butter, stir until smooth. Next, stir in whole grain cereal flakes; then add the dried fruit bits to the mixture. Spread into greased 12" x 7-1/2" x 2" baking pan. Spread 1/3 cup fruit bits on top and press into mixture. Let cool. Cut into 24 bars and wrap each bar in saran wrap. If desired, refrigerate before the trip.

    Servings:

    24 bars
