What are the changes in reedeming used ink cartridges?

I know I read somewhere that starting February there will be no more coupons for reedeming used ink cartridges. No paper coupon but the amount will be places on your Staples Reward card or something like this.

Anyone knows what are the changes?

I asked the store manager by me about 3-4 weeks ago he didn't know anything about it.

Finally found the board again, since it was removed from the home page.

Anyway, I hope it doesn't change. But I looked on the website, and it implied that the ink coupons were only good for future ink purchases. But I haven't tried it recently.

Well, I redeemed three carts the other day. Here's how it supposedly works.

They take your ink, and your staples rewards number. You can do three carts/day.

I guess at the end of the quarter, they mail you a check. The check isn't made to you, but to Staples, which you can use towards your next purchase.

Con: You have to wait for the check.
Pro: You can use more than 3 carts worth of discounts.

Now, what happens if the check is more than what you're buying, I have no idea.
There was an implication that there would be multiple $9 checks, but I don't know if that's true. But they told me I could use more than one check in a transaction.

Maybe I'll redeem a few more and see what happens.

Well, according to customer service, they'll issue a "coupon" for your rewards balance. The rewards balance will include the $3 per ink cartridge.

Still unknown what happens if I don't spend the whole value of the coupon.

So, if you were to do 3 per day for 90 days you could get enough checks to get you a decent discount on a computer or a nice digital camera. Wonder how long this policy will last.

Looks like they rolled out the new program at my local store starting today. Makes me wish i returned the ink cartridges yesterday.

My Staples changed over between last week and this week to the new program. I asked the cashier what happens if you have a quarterly reward worth $20 total but don't buy $20 worth of items? He said the store will issue the difference left to you in a gift card.

FYI - my husband turned in ink cartridges at Office Depot or OfficeMax (I don't know which) and they let him turn in 5 at a time and use all $15 of credit on his purchase that day.

We just went to Staples and here's what we were told...

No coupons will be given out for ink carts, at any Staples, any longer.
They'll take the coupons that you currently have. if you already have them, and use them the same way that they previously were.
When you exchange ink carts now, it will go on your rewards card.
Limit of 3 ink carts exchanges per day, $9.00, to go on the card.
Four times a year (quarterly), a voucher will be issued with all of your ink carts credits on there.
No other info available at store.
Called 1-800-Staples and spoke to a Customer Service Manager.
She verified the above and said that if I exchange 10 ink carts, a credit voucher for $30.00 will be issued. (Of all of the info. just received, this is the craziest one.)
I said, "If I submit 100 ink carts, are they going to mail me a voucher for $300.00?"
"She said as far as she knows, yes, as long as I submit only three per day."
Just called and talked to a district manager and everything as mentioned above is also his understanding of this wonderful? new program. According to him, "Staples has done extensive research and Staples customers want rewards all at once instead of just here and there." I asked, What happens if you get a reward check for $100 and you don't use it all?" He said that you get the unused portion back. He just wasn't sure how.
He suggested calling the rewards department at 1-800-793-3320 on Monday for information.
According to him letters about this were sent out.
I never got one.

It might be time to start shopping at Office Depot. They take 25 per day and you can use them on the spot. I see this as the end of the program as we know it. The next step will be that they don't recycle them at all or will still take them off your hands and not give you anything for them. Just my opinion.
