coupon overage

Can anyone tell me if Staples will apply coupon overage to the rest of my purchase? If I have a $5 coupon and something costs $3...will I have the other $2 or will they adjust it down?

I am not sure, but I sent an email to their corporate offices asking. I will let you know as soon as they get back to me.

Just go a response from Staples corporate office about this, they say that the overage would not be applied. If you use a $4.00/1 coupon on a $3.00 item you would get a $3.00 reduction.
