For example:

I was told that paying with a Stapes’ gift card or a Staples’ Rewards check will not affect the rebate check’s amount.

I then asked the Staples’ manager where this is stated / mentioned (in the form of a disclaimer) on the rebate coupon.

It is not.

At any point in the buying process of this item, if you are not sure of something, stop and ask the help.

I would ask the Staples’ store manager instead of a clerk or a cashier.
