LOL that is too cute! Exactly how I feel about the kids going back to school this year! First time in 19 years where I won't have any kids at home durring the day!

I was working as a Paralegal/Customer Service for Staples when this commercial came out (almost 16 years ago) .. Staples was a small company at the time and was on the verge of "exploding" into a world wide company (which it is now)

Anyway, you would not believe the number of complaints we had about this commercial. Teachers and parent called and complained .. they claimed that the commercial was giving school and teachers a bad name and it was difficult enough to start the year without having commercials reinforcing the idea that the start of school was horrible for kids ..

but we did have parents and teachers call and thanks us for the laugh and thought it was a great commercial and was dead on!

I always smile when I hear that song and see the commercial

People are so funny how they interpret things .. I for one enjoy seeing that commercial and the fact that its 16 years old and people still love it says something!

I can believe the complaints...but from a different perspective. I can't believe parents are that excited to get rid of their kids. Doesn't give the schools a bad name, gives the parents a bad name. If sending kids off to school is the "most wonderful time of the year", over spending time with family during the holidays or vacation, or whatever, and parents feel this commercial is "dead on", then I am truly sad for the families across America.

I don't want to make this a HUTC thread, but it is humor. I spend 24/7 with my kids, my work is never done. I hardly get a break and after a long summer of "I'm bored" "there is nothing to do" with 4 kids at home. I am kind of looking forward to them going back to school. Frankly all of my kids are excited about it too. Is it REALLY the "most happiest day of the year" no, of course not, but I get the humor in it. Do I love spending time with my kids, of course I do. But there is this giddy feeling of having a few hours a day when the kids go back to school of having some real time to work, clean house and get something done without being interrupted.

My kids love school, and I love that this is the first year they are all going!

(I don't even have a Staples where I live, but I still like the commercial)
