Re: Staples Sneak Preview 7/26-8/1/09 I love my Staples. It is a newer store and a small one (but not Express). The regular staff knows us (new group of in training young folks just hired and all super nice and helpful). This is a tough area to work in -- what I mean is they get very hard hit when they do these sales. We have a large population of immigrant families who bring in everyone in their family and each one of them including all of their children do an order. I have no problem with that but some (of course not all) are not as nice as they could be and the language barrier can make it challenging. I saw one young cashier trying very hard to explain to someone they had the wrong glue for the sale today and she never lost her cool.
My husband is a teacher and they let him get 25 of each item. The customer service lead (Nancy) sold us a laptop a year ago and is always so nice to us. She even told me today I no longer have to drag my husband out early on Sunday mornings for these deals. She will honor the 25 limit for me (I do work for a college but I am not a teacher so I have never asked because I want to play by the rules and I am not a teacher).
We did two orders. One of them was with the chair. With the $5/$30 and the rebate I consider it a $5 chair and we need it just for the desktop in our apartment so even if it is uncomfortable we really won't be using it a lot but it will be nice to have. We purchased 41 other $.25 items to get to $30. We did not come close to getting 25 of any one item which we could have but we don't want to be hogs and prefer to get what we need/can use. We had the $.50 and $1/2 printables for the mechanical pencils and had no problem using them combined with the in ad coupon.
My stepson has a netbook and forgot to tell us the McAfee trial was over and he says it is running slow. I talked to Nancy about it last week and was going to bring it in but had to wait for a package from work. It turned out to be a huge blessing. She said go with Norton 360 but they charge $29.99 to install it (net books do not have a drive to put in the disk). Well this week the software is on sale plus free installation. What would have cost $70 (software and installation plus tax) came out to $31.XX with tax! We were able to use the $5 in ad coupon (we had two) on the software (it would not have been good towards a service like the installation) bringing the cost down from the sale price of $34.99 to $29.99 plus the free install AND a free PC tune up. Plus the Norton disk is good for up to three computers so I can load it onto our desktop and my husbands laptop (I have a laptop from work with corporate loaded anti-virus software so I do NOT touch it).
It is only Sunday and I can't wait for the next sneak peak to be up :)
Maddy
