I went today and neither of the two stores I went to had anymore of the pencil sharpeners left! I was sad! It is the only thing I havent gotten yet and I wanted them for free!
I am a homeschooling parent of 3 children (10, 9, & 7). I called the Staples Teacher Reward Program CS number and asked if homeschooling parents qualified for the Program. The CS rep informed me that I am eligible for the program. She even took my information over the phone and gave me a number that I can use until I receive my card in the mail!
All she asked me for was my name, address, & phone number. I am not sure how she will go through verifying that I am a homeschooling parent, but I am sure they have ways of finding out through the school system.
I am calling all the Staples in my area to ask the limit for the free items.
The Staples with the highest limit wins.
If you would like the number that I called please lmk.
Thanks for the tip Mherb![]()

I'm a homeschooling mom and have had the Teacher's Reward Card for a few weeks now. I've gotten free glue, 2-pocket folders, 8-pack #2 pencils, pencil sharpeners, sliding pencil cases, rulers etc. I've gotten up to 25 of them if I wanted. You can do it with any of those FREE or $.01/$.025 products. Anything where they normally have a limit of 2 or 5 or 10, yours is 25.
Where I live, I don't have to inform the state of my homeschooling status until my child is 8. I will have to register my eldest next year, but I've still been homeschooling for a few years now. Because of this, though, I don't have any 'real' proof that I am a homeschooler. I just took in my phone book from the Homeschool group that I'm part of, hoping that they would accept that as proof. I'm sure that every store is different, but they didn't even look twice at the phone book and just had me fill out the info.
If you are a member of HSLDA or if your state (or school district) has to sign off on a letter of intent or something, then those should act as proof.
This has not only blessed my family, but the extra's I've gotten have gone to others who need school supplies. It help for friends, church family members and various school supply drives. It's GREAT!!!
I am also a homeschooling teacher. I didn't have to show any proof when I turned in my application at the store and got my card. I get the same 25 limits as public or other private school teachers may get. I only use this for items I know we will use or that I can donate to the local church schools.

Another homeschooling mom here. I have had the Staples teacher card for 3yrs now and when I called the Staples line to inquire if they allow Homeschooling parents the card, the operator enthusatically said YES!! I also am eligible for the same benefits of the 25 limit.
I actually called Staple corporate yesterday and spoke with the secretary of the President and told her how grateful I was for the sales at Staples this year and the 2 stores that I frequent most often, how wonderful their managers were and customer service. Staples has my business for all my Office Supply needs!
Thanks so much for the info. I'm a homeschooler and just signed up.![]()
