$24.20 or so.

Mostly from ink cartridges turned into me for the cub scouts.
The only trick now is how to turn that into cash for them.

Staples sells snacks and such, perhaps you could buy it for them to sell @ anothr fundraiser? Or other office supplies to be used towards getting badges. While those ideas don't net cash, the result is not having to buy these things from another retailer. Sometimes their prices are pretty comparable.

Someone explain it to me - where does this come from? Do you have to sign up for the card? Tia.

If you are talking about the staples reward checks I got mine the other day - $16 something. Usually my husband uses these for his home office needs, but I used this one. I don't know the "rules" so I hope it's ok to post this. I had never spent one of these checks before, so I wasn't sure if I could buy stamps or not - not even sure if Staples sold them. I simply wakled in asked if they sold stamps, the cashier said yes, I told her I needed 2 books, she rang them up, I paid for them with the staples reward check - no problems.

That's not a bad idea. Too bad we finished our last major fundraiser for the year (expensive dumb coupon cards, but we also had a box of candy for those that didn't wanna pay $10 for a card) We made more profit on the candy & donations than we did with the cards.

What I've done in the past is buy personal supplies, and just reimburse the pack for the rewards value (or that minus the difference between what I paid there and what I could have gotten at, say, Walmart). Can only buy so much paper, though.

We might use some of it to give the dens a craft "boost" at the beginning of the year...right as the back to school sales occur.

Well, I used my rewards coupon. No issues. I managed to use the whole thing (bought a box of paper), so no leftover.

They said that if there was a leftover amount, it would have gone on a staples cash card, and, get this...good for 30 DAYS! So much for rolling that over for a while.

I guess this is the downside to a normally good deal...ya can't get $3 for an ink cart from those fundraising places...not even close!

For those of you who got your checks, did it say how long the check was good for? Did it need to be used in 30, 60, 90 days? I am wondering if you can hold checks from quarter to quarter and to buy a big ticket item later in the year.

My check for March purchases, which arrived at the end of April, expires 6/30/2008. My check for April purchases, which arrived just this week, expires 7/31/2008. So going with those 2 data points, it seems like they expire about 2 months from when you get them in the mail.

My checks come monthly since I'm a Premier member, but I believe that non-Premier members get theirs only every 3 months. So for non-Premier, they would probably have to spend one check before the next arrives, whereas Premier members can definitely save up 2 checks to use at one time, and possibly even 3 although it might be a tight squeeze to use them before the 1st one expires.

Hope that helps some!
