    DD3 X12/6/09 CoinStar: Cash in $40 - get an additional $10 (e-certificates only)

This offer begins today, 11/9/09 and ends on 12/6/09. Cash in $40 or more to get a free $10 e-certificate for use online with one of the merchants listed. I do not have a copy of the form that is required as the claim form will be displayed at the end of a qualified Coinstar® receipt.

However, on their website the following merchants are listed as having e-certificates available in general:

    Amazon
    Cabela's
    Eddie Bauer
    itunes
    JC Penney
    Lowe's
    Overstock
    Rixty

The links below are loading slow.

Offical rules found here with more information: http://www.coinstar.com/us/html/q4_officialrules

General operating instructions to convert into an e-certificate found here: Coinstar : Our Products : FREE Coin Counting when you turn coins into a Card or eCertificate

More basic info: General terms and conditions: the $10 holiday bonus offer ends 12/6/09. Offer valid in the U.S. only and excludes Puerto Rico. Offer good on qualified coin transactions made between 11/9/09 and 12/6/09. Transactions occurring before or after these dates are not eligible for this offer. Limit 1 per name, address, or household. Void where prohibited. Not valid with any other offer. No cash substitutions. Valid on coin transactions only. I remember this turned into a total awesome deal in conjunction with a holiday sale at Lowe's because we got extra Lowe's GCs from CoinStar and extra Lowe's GCs from redeeming our CoinStar e-certificates into Lowe's giftcards. In the end, we got extra coming and going.

How much does the coinstar cost though to cash in $40?

It does charge a fee (can't remember how much) for changing coins into paper money. Totally not worth it to me! However, it charges no handling fee to exchange coins for giftcards. So, if you shop at or were going to buy a giftcard to one of the ones they offer anyway, it's a really good deal.

The actual numbers escape me but maybe someone else can remember the exact amount. It could have been when you bought $40 in Lowe's giftcards directly from Lowe's that they gave you an extra $10 giftcard. Thus, I turned in $40 in change at the CoinStar for $40 Lowe's e-certificate. Then I took e-certificate to Lowe's and bought a $40 giftcard. I used my CoinStar receipt to get another $10 Lowe's giftcard from them and used my Lowe's giftcard purchase to get an additional $10 giftcard from Lowe's directly. The final process netted me $20 extra on $40 invested into Lowe's giftcards. It was a fantastic deal if you spend money there anyway and there's no expiration on giftcards.

I'm only pointing out the Lowe's promotion happened last November/December and maybe it will again. But I've seen no such promotion just yet.

I did this last year and it was very easy. No fee to change $40 into an Amazon gc, then got the extra $10 gc
