Smith's B1G1 Q question

Ok, I have a question when using B1G1F coupons at Smith's. Yesterday I went to smiths and picked up 4 bottles of Gillette body wash. I had 2 q's for b1g1 and 2 q's that were $2 off 1 bottle. At the register I was only able to use 1 or the other of the 2 coupons. So I ended up only using the 2 b1g1 coupons. Am I unable to use all 4? Because doesn't the $2 off coupon go towards the "one" free item? Or does Smiths not allow that? TIA!
