$0.50 a can is my stock up price on the mandarin oranges. My kids love them and when we are low on fresh fruit (which can happen fast I swear I am always buying fresh fruit and it can be gone in 2 days) the canned can come in handy to go in lunches and as a snack. I can sometimes get the Dole Mandarin oranges cheaper when there is a decent coupon, sale and a Catalina deal running but really $0.50 a can is not too shabby!

Most of us take advantage of the case lot sales for items we are low on and we get just enough to tide us over till the next good deal with coupons, or we get items that don't often have good sales or coupons, and staples that we need or would need regardless (sugar, flour, etc)
    Thanks for the heads up.

We have about a two week supply of food in our pantry. This case lot deal will really help us. Especially the macaroni. The cheapest we ever got that macaroni was about 41 cents a box. Our daughter LOVES macaroni, so that's a definite 'yes' for purchasing.

My husband really likes the oatmeal. Not sure if that case deal is a good sale though? I believe it said $1.67 each when you buy a case. I do have a coupon for Quaker, but will have to see for how much off.

Jaguar-- You don't have to buy the case at most Smith's stores. At my store, the shelf price is the same. So you can use $1 Quaker coupon and get 1 box for 67¢. Or use 2 coupons and get 2 for 67¢ each..... I personally wouldn't get more than a few (unless you have loads of coupons and you will use them before they go bad), because it will probably go cheaper with coupons. I needed to stock on beans -- 50¢ a can is pretty great since we go through a bunch a week. My store, however, did not get the Geisha mushrooms I wanted -- there isn't even a regular spot on the shelf. Oh well.

Does anyone else feel like case lot sales get worse and worse? I feel like I can get way better prices for lots of things during the year instead of waiting for case lot sales!

I like to stock up on certain items at the case lot sale. Through the years the sale prices have gone up and up as fuel prices rise.... I remember when beans were 3/1$1 on sale but now 50¢ a can is my stock-up price. We go through them at our house -- especially in the winter with lots of soups. I like buying case lot items that are cheaper than WalMart's shelf prices. Unfortunately, that's the comparison I use for non coupos (store brand) items. HTH

I don't think caselot sales are worth waiting for, especially if you cannot use coupons on them (they won't let me here) however they can be OK for getting some staples or things you are low on to tide you over till a better sale comes along. I usually buy sugar, flour, honey and other things that I don't normally get a great deal on with coupons. For example sugar this week ends up being 47¢ a lb. Which is a pretty good price for sugar. You get 40 Lbs. of sugar for $18.90. I have a really hard time getting a great deal on sugar using coupons. So normally I would buy a 25 Lb. bag of sugar at Walmart for around $15, so that price is around 60¢ a lb. so there is a little bit of savings for me by buying at the case lot.

I was OK with the canned tomatoes, tomato sauce, Hormel Chili, Jiffy cornbread mix, honey, and ramen (my teen like ramen...blech) I am sure I can get a better deal later in the year on some of the canned foods, but I was out or low so this was OK to stock up to hold me over till a better deal comes along.
