I haven't been around much lately but ran into an issue with my $5 off $50 coupon for September 2011 - December 2011 from one of those Kid Stuff Entertainment books (I believe that is what it is called - the ones kids sell for their school, not the other one out there that you can buy at certain stores).

Anyway, on Friday when I did my shopping I handed over my $5 off $50 coupon along with my other coupons. I was bagging and wasn't really paying attention and apparently the cashier took off all of the other manufacturer coupons first (and my total was still over $50) and the $5 coupon wouldn't go through. She then tried putting back on all the other coupons and ringing the $5 one first and it still didn't work.

She put on her light and the person that overrides all the coupons came over and saw that it wouldn't scan and said their systems were updated and now they don't work if your over $50 total includes items that were on sale (at least I believe that is what she said) which doesn't make sense to me.

I guess I was really confused by her explanation and thought the $60 total that was up there wasn't reduced by price plus savings or whatever so I just paid. Then when I got home I realized I paid $60.53 (tax was only $1.32 so it wasn't that) so it was definitely over $50.

I just emailed Shoprite about it this morning and looking over my receipt again I realize that I bought the Pepsi that was 4 for $12 - I wonder if that could be a "prohibited item"? Though when she put my coupons back on my total had to be over $65 and the pepsi was only $12. I can't remember if I've used the coupons in the past with soda on my order or not.

I'd love anyone's input on this and if anyone has had this issue before. I shop at the Eddystone, PA Shoprite if that makes a difference.
