Question about not getting overages...

I assume this may be covered somewhere, but I can't find it...

I have been stepping up my coupon game lately, and am new to my area (so I have only an Acme and a Shoprite to contend with)... anywho, my question:

I am noticing, in these stores, they are changing the amount of my coupons when I should be getting things free and then some! Example, I have a coupon for $3 off dry cat food that is on sale for $2.69... they won't give me the $3, they change the amount of the coupon to the $2.69...

I've had this issue in both stores - is this what happens with you guys? I see a lot of people online saying they get overages, 'free +' and 'paid to take things out of the store' and they aren't letting me do that at all... the other day I wasn't even given the $1 on a 99 cent item...

Anyway, just wanted to ask in case there is anything I can do.. thanks so much!

I do not have those stores. but overage is a YMMV. i know alot of people say "well they are getting reimbursed for the whole coupon and so should i"...but really it is one of those things that "if you get it and the store policy says it is okay, fantastic, if not you still got it for free".

except walmart whose policy says they will give you full value, but that isnt a fight i am willing to go at yet.

Thanks... I figured I am getting it for free but I was wondering if others had a way around this, or were doing something I wasn't aware of and that's why I asked...
