DD3 Any store in Delaware county PA or nearby that uses shelf price. Urgent. Please help

Hi I live in west philly (drexel hill).
I went to a shop rite today to do the catalina deal going on this week. The store at haverford av. and looks like they use sale price and not shelf price for catalina. Also the guy at the counter was telling me its calculated after the coupons. so i.e the actual amount htat is paid.
I called anohter store and the manager told me the same thing.

Is there anyone out there who leaves nearby and knows of a shop rite that uses shelf price and also calculates before coupons. that would be really helpful. I wanted to take advantage of the catalina. Please help me.

    Thank you.

I live in Delaware and I sometimes go to the store in Chester, PA to do the deals. I haven't gone in maybe 2 months but as of then they went on shelf price and it's a fully-doubling store. I know that's a bit of a hike for you but that's the only one I can think of in Delaware County. And, for what it's worth, the customer service folks will tell you anything but I have NEVER seen a Cat deal go by sale price and after coupon.

Don't let one bad trip dissuade you from using your neighborhood store again. Theoretically, Delaware county ought not be any different to any other Shoprite location out there as far as CATs go. Most likely, you made an error in your shopping. If you list your purchase in detail over here, someone might be able to guide you where the mistake was, and how to rectify it.

As for the managers, cashiers, and somesuch, they don't know what they are talking about. That's the standard response they have whenever a CAT does not print, no matter which county.

ok. so i bought the 2 pompein organic olive oil (shelf price 6.99 ) with card 3.99 each.
I was expecting it to work onshelf price and thot i wud recieve the 10 CAT. but the total came to 7.98 so it only printed (2) 2.5 CAT. I asked in Customer service and they said coz the amount I actually paid was 7.98 i din get the 10 CAT. DId i do sth wrong?
Also y did it print the (2) 2.5 i was thinking it will only print any CAT if only buy at least $10 worth of qualifying products.

    Please help.
    THank you.

Assuming you bought nothing else, your purchase was correct. You should have received 4 CATs, or 0 CATs. The 2 CATs most likely means either the machine was out-of-order, or you walked away too soon (sometimes, it is slow).

    - Did you buy anything else in the same transaction?
    - What were the 2 CATs that printed? Any purchase? Toy? Or one of each?

The store managers at both stores are not quite right.

The catalina programs are run by Catalina, not ShopRite, and they run the same way at all ShopRites.

First, coupons don't matter, just the price of the items.

Second, sometimes things work on shelf price, but not always.

Catalina promotions do not require you to use a shopper's card, so they are based on the price you would pay without a card. Sometimes that will be the shelf price, but more often with ShopRite (more than any other stores it seems) it is the sale price.

Look at your flyer on page 5 at the bottom in the box for Pompeian items.

Pompeian Olive oil is half price at $6.99 - in this case the only price you need to know, because %6.99 is what counts toward reaching $10.

But look at the Organic Olive Oil. It is $3.99 with Price Plus Card (and limit 4). the box tells you you save $3.00, so it will ring up $6.99 without the card. If you buy 2 of this item, you will pay $7.98, but get credit for $13.98. You can also use coupons to reduce what you pay. Again, this should work at ALL the stores, but you have to be careful. Every store manager will tell you it's based on sale prices, because that is how they were trained. But it's not really true - but don't argue with them, because they're not going to budge.

What you can do is call Catalina, and have them research your order. It looks like one of two things happened - either the machine was slow, and spit the last 2 out after you left, or they didn't print. If they didn't print, Catalina can usually tell, and can send replacements (there's plenty of time to do so, and they probably won't be restricted to appliances/toys/batteries only).

As for what counts - I would assume anything on that front flap, and anything on the center pages, but it is largely up to the cashier.

I agree with meltowne. Accurate and well articulated.
Just to clarify a bit further, if one of each printed, look for a pink stripe along the length of the CAT. If it's there, that means the machine ran out of paper. If it's not there, that means the machine was slow and you walked away before the other two printed. Alternately, sometimes cashiers are too quick to yank out the CATs and move on to the next customer, and a relatively new-to-this customer like yourself would not notice and go on their merry way. Since you bought only two items, and already received two CATs, it is likely the cashier thought: well, that's it! The two that you did receive should be expiring 01/08 and 12/25. You missed out on the 12/18 and 12/11.
Your options now are to call Catalina, or return and re-buy. I would do the latter.
Let us know how it went. Good luck!

Just as a little helpful tidbit...I used to work at the Giant and the way you can always tell if the cat machine is done or not...the little lite on the machine blinks when it's printing so keep your eyes on the light. If it stops, your done and if it's blinking, tell the girl you have more cats coming.

    HTH!
