My store seems to have the doubling right on the new system... about all that it screws up regularly is the following.

50¢/12 cans or 1 12 pack of Friskies cat food.
Each can is 58¢.
So 12 cans are bought, and the coupon is used. Invariably, it doubles as 50¢ (MFR) and 8¢ (store). Now, I know this is because it has to be coded as 50¢/1 to account for the 12-pack.

What we do? We just do a manual 50¢ MFR coupon for non-foods. Problem solved. Granted, there are other problems at my store, but I will not detail them here.

The Tony's coupon is a dnd but the Coffee Mate is NOT. Also cashier didnt do anything expect scan all coupons. I even tried a .50/1 dole coupon on the pineapple earlier this week. Pineapple cans on sale $.99 and it DID NOT DOUBLE. 2 weeks ago when the cans were $1 the same coupon doubled with no problem. WE used to have the machine scan correctly like you mentioned but for the last few weeks it DOES NOT AUTO ADJUST.

If they are advertising that they double coupons & they aren't, you should raise a stink. False advertising & all that fun stuff.

Another update. Seems that the problem has been fixed in my local store. I purchased a Breakstone's sour cream today on sale for $.99 and used one of the $.55/1 printables. The printable doubled(it actually fully doubled and gave overage). So someone please try this coupon and let me know if the issue is fixed everywhere or if just my store fixed it due to many complaints.

Where is your store?

FWIW, I was able to double that particular coupon, but then again, my registers didn't have problems.

I think the best way for you to double check is to try another coupon, perhaps the $.55/1 Bumble Bee since that needs an automatic adjustment, too.

So far I haven't had any trouble at Lawrenceville, NJ with this issue. I actually had this problem just one time *before* the new registers were put in.

Another update. Seems my store is not yet fixed either. I used a .75/1 No Yolks printable and it did not double. The price was $1.49. But i may have found the problem. If Shoprite marks down the price w/o any price plus discount then the coupon will not double. The Breakstones was on sale but with a PP discount so that was why the coupon doubled with no issues. This is just my guess but i'll do some more testing. The No Yolks just showed $1.49 when i used the price scanner in the store. Did not show any PP discounts. So when i used the .75 coupon it would not double.

In the past month of this going on, has anyone called corporate to report it?

If your store advertises that coupons are doubled, it is false advertising if they do not double as they should. I would think this is reportable to the state Attorney General's office, which oversees truth in advertising.

The point is, obviously the lone couponer complaining about this is not having any effect. You need to move up the SR food chain.

I just looked at my 12/29/09 receipt from Montague, NJ Shoprite and I used 4 "No Yolks (aka wacky mac)" coupons and they did not double. I used one a few weeks ago and that one did not double either. Every other coupon that would not double into an overage worked just fine. New policy in the works????
CS first stop on my next shopping trip and I'll have them fix it every time until they're told different.

I just wrote Shoprite this email and I'll let you know their response:

"Hi, On my last couple of shopping trips I've had five $0.75 coupons that did not double. The items were "No Yolk/Wacky Mac" products and the coupon UPC code is "5 71730 00075 7" so they should of doubled (do not double, not written on coupon). I realize that many of your register computers have been upgraded but I'm not sure if this is a glitch that needs to be addressed so I just wanted to bring it to your attention. Please advise on what I should expect on future coupon use in Shop-rite stores and thank you for the great service your stores provide (no sarcasm).

P.S. Off Topic:
My Fathers been employed by one of your co-ops (formally Big-V) for what must be near 50 years now so I consider the Shop-Rite name as part of my family :)"
