Just checked my reciept.
I bought the Dole pineapple one can
used the .50IP
reciept had -.50 and -.49

So it did double.
My store is SR RioGrande, NJ
We are cursed with the new and improved registers.

Default Re: Shoprite: Question about doubling

someone mentioned going to the self checkout yesterday, so i did w/ my international delight creamers and the .55 & .75 q's. none would double.

the man at shoprite said my q's were bad, because they didn't have a 3rd barcode at the top right? i showed him where each one was numbered, so they know i didn't photocopy them...but he didn't care, wouldn't double my q's and said wouldn't even take them. so i left.

another store went to a normal checkout and again, none of them doubled. the .55 says do not double, so they wouldn't double that one, it does start w/ a 5 & they had to manually do the .75.

what a pain! i hope this gets resolved soon. has anyone contacted shoprite to see what is going on?

edit: just wanted to say i emailed shoprite about this and will see if i get a reply.

was at wharton yesterday, buying 2 international delights for .99 each and using 2 $1/1 ip's. of course, register beeps and cashier puts them aside. i tell her those are .99, so she manually enters the coupons in for .99 each. i was happy to get them free, but then i noticed the register doubled them both since she changed the coupon to .99, so $1.98 overage.

does anyone know if this problem has been fixed? i haven't used any doubling coupons that would give me overage this past week.

i never got a reply back from shoprite.

I shop at three stores, 2 in Hudson county and 1 in Essex, all have the new registers and it seems the cashiers are non too happy with them. I have been breaking down my purchases, so as to have better control with the coupons. Most of these cashiers are not too coupon-friendly!

I don't use the self check outs.
Self check out won't push a coupon thru like those nice teenagers do.

Actually, I am very clumsy and drop things all the time and I am over 50 so I like the comfort of speaking to a real live person. Call me silly.

I was at shoprite today and it went smoothly, I got overage for 1cent on the .99 things when I had a dollar coupon but I didn't get overage for the wet ones $1.50 coupon ...the product price was $1.24.
Some folks did get the overage. I guess it just depends on what the cashier does.

But hey....free is good right?

for those wondering, this still is not fixed. today i used one of my .50/1 coffee-mate coupon and it did not double. yesterday i used a tony's .50/1 coupon and it did not double. thank god next week the nesquik are on sale 10/$10 instead of $.99. that penny would have screwed me over with my load of $.50/1 coupons.

Has anyone called corporate to complain about this? If the circular that originates from your store mentions doubling in that fine print on page 1, then you should get things doubled.

The Tony's coupon could very well have been a do not double - most of those are.

My store seems to have the doubling right on the new system... about all that it screws up regularly is the following.

50¢/12 cans or 1 12 pack of Friskies cat food.
Each can is 58¢.
So 12 cans are bought, and the coupon is used. Invariably, it doubles as 50¢ (MFR) and 8¢ (store). Now, I know this is because it has to be coded as 50¢/1 to account for the 12-pack.

What we do? We just do a manual 50¢ MFR coupon for non-foods. Problem solved. Granted, there are other problems at my store, but I will not detail them here.
