but seriously, GF and I are considering an ice cream party just to clear up space, it's not going as quickly as I hoped.

I'm sorry I don't have an income every week like you and can pay for groceries, mortgage, elec, gas and health insurance.
This is a help to us.

I have a cashier I hate too. She's an old timer too, always with a bad attitude about something, including me. Without fail, when I'm at her register, there's a problem with a coupon that involves waiting for a FEM. She's talked to other customers about me while I've stood in line waiting my turn. I know this because one time she looked at me, turned to the customer & said something at which time the customer then turned to look at me & since I was staring right at the both of them, had the good manners to at least look embarrassed before turning away. I've heard her complaining about the coupons & had suspected the bad-mouthing before. I avoid her line. I haven't complained about her because I don't see what the point is in drawing further negative attention to myself.

I am always as sweet as can be and might even compliment their new hair style or ask" when's your break" or "man it's busy today" or "are you ok? you look tired" stuff like that
but
Whatever the weather in that place....I pretend I am a mystery shopper at all times. So....I can be seen writing down prices, NAMES, checkout times. Sometimes I'll ask their name and compliment them (if I can) on their excellent customer service and let them see me writing down their name. Once I even commented to a 'witch' that "oh, that's good, your name and ID come right up on the reciept, how convenient.
Maybe I don't fool anybody but maybe I do.....It sure makes me feel alot braver and better.
I'm sorry that Shoprite gave you a bad time. me too....so I pretend stuff.

pk | PK,
I DID used to mystery shop another NJ chain grocery store that is not SR but rhymes with HackMe, then I had to stop because my KID got a job there, making me potentially biased... and he made more $ than I did
The big tipoff to a mystery shopper in a grocery store is only buying $2 worth of stuff.. that is the amount for which you are generally reimbursed. Also, carefully checking your watch from the time to get on line to completion of order.
I also used to be often assigned a certain "intelligent" chain pet store and a big box store nicer than Walmart but not as nice as Nordstorms Those were often less than fun too. The WORST was the gas station.. nothing like buying $5 worth of gas at the priciest station in town, then asking for the bathroom key (4 weeks in a row yet) to tip them off. Sigh.. I do NOT miss those jobs at all... and I think I SAVE more by devoting the time to deal shopping and couponing than I made mystery shopping.
I have to tell you, when I hear some of your SR horror stories, I really appreciate my store. This week, I actually had a cashier lean over to the line I was on and ask WHY I didn't get on her line. She had her light off and didn't know it... but she always CHEERS me on with the coupons and once when I bought a bottle of Suave without a Q (it was 77 cents, we needed it and I didn't have any Qs left!), she asked if I had forgotten to give her the Q.. in an order of $80...
