Moody’s recently cut its rating on Supervalu further into junk territory. Wall Street has called for Supervalu to shed assets to pay down some of its debt."

Sounds like Supervalu may have no choice but to sell Shaws/Star Market. A company is in really bad shape when Moody rates it as junk.

The economy is not recovering any time soon; Supervalu will continue to struggle as costs rise and people struggle with employment and dwindling assets.
