Shaw's 4/17 - 4/23/09

I'm going to have to try a small order tomorrow. Normally our local Shaws cashiers will not begin your order until they swip your card and if you do a catalina deal it will be based off the price after the Shaws card. So you would have to buy 10 Wesson Oils to get to $25. They have also started going through coupons and anything that says 'do not double" even if it is less than .99 they hit a button and it won't double. They used to let these go through as doubles.

Maybe I need to find a new Shaws. I was also looking at your prices and they are different. The Hebrew Nationals are 5.99 the BOGO Arm Hammer is $6.99.

I always hand over my card at the beginning. It always says the original price on the receipt but rings in as the sale price. It says "Wesson Oil $7.99, savings $5.49" showing the sale price. Anyway, I don't think anyone holds onto their card until the end to get cats because they print once the payment is processed in most cases. The milk one printed during, but all other ones I've had lately are when the receipt prints. I know some people do have stores that base it on sale price, but that doesn't have to do with giving your card at the end of the transaction, just how their system is set up to trigger the cats. Anyway, I don't think it's when you give the card, but how the system is programmed at your store. Not sure if that's what you meant, but just wanted to throw that out there in case that is what you meant :hectic1:

The doubles thing does stink though. I know one near me has one lady who does that. Just one, no one else does it. She will even comb through your SCO transaction and check those to make sure you haven't received any doubles you shouldn't. :shrug7:

Those are the same prices at my store. I do find a few differences here and there. I have to be careful because I did mess up a deal once before because I forgot to verify when I got there. :sad:

There is one lady at Ft Eddy Concord yhat is very particular about the doubles and smiles when she fixes it LOL! Like she is punishing you. Also the SCO's call someone to let each and every coupon thru.

I've tried Millcreek, Scarborough, Westgate, Northgate with different scenerios and they only print at the end and only based on the sales price not shelf price. I tried 5 wesson yesterday and nothing then i did 10 and it printed. (same register)

Thanks for the explanation. I didn't really know what triggered them so I wondered if holding the card made the difference. A long time ago our machines used to print coupons as the cashier rang in the order but now it prints the receipt then the coupons from a different machine? But I think you guys are right it is based on how it is programmed.

I'll just keep looking for one that does it based on shelf price because it makes a big difference $$$$ if you have to buy 5 oils or 10 oils- DH is starting to wonder what I'm up to LOL!

I usually go to the young kids- they don't care and they just run everything through. One lady does this little hand gesture......."Oh (finger in the air) that's a do not double." LOL- I don't frequent her lane:) She's awful cute though!
