Possibly they tried to give you some of your items free because they didn't ring up at the rigth price, but more likely just a mistake on their end.
There are perhaps a few folks on this board who will neg rep you and jump up and down and say it's not right of you to keep the amount of overage, and that you should return it or you're being bad or unethical or blah blah blah.
Not me. What I'd suggest is that since you're roughly $20 ahead this time, don't waste any more of your time on it, just remember it the next few times they make a two or three dollar mistake in their favor. It will save you a lot of aggravation. |
When I returned to the store I brought ALL my receipts and explained to the manager who helped me exactly what it was that had happened. I did multiple transactions in order to maximise my savings. I was positive about the young cashier, the poor kid was new and flustered by the shaw's $5
coupon but he was nice and I wanted them to know that.
Did I question the amount I was given back? No I didn't, since I was dealing with a middle aged store manager and not one of the young clerks, summer time student help,I assumed the store must have some sort of policy concerning what happens if they fail to scan your store card.
I love a good deal just as much as the next person but I'm no thief.
On the positive side, I hadn't shopped this Shaw's since I moved 5 years ago, the pleasant way I was treated, the lovely organic produce they've got and the great sales means I will make it a point to return there frequently, even though it's several miles further than stop and shop. |
