Since it is the 4th of July weekend, tell me what you are planning to do to celebrate OR why you are proud to live in this great country. Be creative with your response, but don't lie! (i.e. If you have a family favorite recipe that you do every year, post it)!

This upcoming 4th of July weekend is jam-packed - but actully starts on Wednesday with my DS. He will be 2 years old in August, and because my daycare can only watch him for half a day on Wednesday, I am taking him to the York zoo/adventure park. The drive will be 3 1/2 hours (one-way) but hopefully will be worth it in the end. He has gone on one ride at the YMCA Spring Fair and loved it - so I cannot wait to see his face with all of the rides and animals at the zoo. On Friday, we have a party to go put on by a co-worker that begins at noon. That is what I think the 4th is all about - not partying - but gathering with family, friends, and co-workers to enjoy our freedom. On Saturday my DH and I plan to go for a boat ride, with a coupole good fishing spots on a nearby lake. Since I hurt my back I have not been able to do much of that and cannot wait to "rekindle" our love for eachother. On Saturday night we have planned a small family gettogther with my DH's family. Last week my DFIL had shoulder surgery and is "out-of-commission" for 6 weeks - maybe longer if the other should will have to be done. Currently my DSIL is serving in Iraq and we look forward to toasting in her honor for allowing us to have the freedom we have today. My father and grandfather both served in the armed forces and makes me proud that my son might grow up to be like them.

This fourth of July we will be going to the fireworks. Nothing is more fun than sitting on a blanket with your family and just chatting the night away until it is dark enough for the fireworks!! This weekend I will be working. I am a nurse and unfortunately the hospital is open 24/7 so I have to be there!!!

I am also a nurse and have to work on the fourth - so my holiday will be spent making sure the blinds are open so my patients can see the fireworks and making sure the crazy patients have earplugs so they don't freak!!

Cleaning out the basement, that's my goal for this weekend. The fireworks in my town happened last weekend...early bird special?

We have a number of things happpening. Friday we have a family BB, Saturday we have a motorcycle ride with our riding club. We also will be attending taps at 7pm at our Veteran's Cemetry. My DH and his whole family are military. It is done all summer by volunteers, so we like to show up to support them. Sunday will be a day of rest I hope.

This weekend will be probably my best weekend of the year. My nephew Matt has come in from his Dad's in Florida. I haven't seen him in over 7 months. We will be celebrating his 13th Birthday with a big family get together of about 50 people. I'll be making brownies with white frosting, some blueberries and a strawberry on top. I am going to top it off with a toothpick flag.. yummy.....I can't wait for Saturday as I get to see a great friend of mine that I haven't seen in 10 years!! We have been friends since 1982. AND...I have my first date in a year and a half with someone I met in the express lane at the market! We started talking when he seen how much I saved with my coups...Hope it's not an express relationship...12 dates or less... lol! Have a Great 4th Everyone and please take a moment as you are watching those fireworks to remember the brave soldiers who have lost thier lives for us and those who are risking thiers everyday so that we may have these wonderful celebrations.

With two little guys who go to bed early we will be doing a BBQ with friends and probably a trip to the beach. Not too much going on with us. My family is all on the west coast so no fun family get togethers here!

I do have a really yummy recipe from my friends party that would be great for the 4th! Make a white cake let it cool, cook up jello any flavor you want. Poke holes on the top and poor the jello I would guess cooled down on top let it soak in over night. Top it with cool whip and jimmy's and it is SO GOOD!!! I could have ate the whole thing myself. You could do red & blue jello and make it colorful. I think I just might do this. Sometimes it is fun to suggest things to others.

This foruth of July we will be going to my mohters house. They live on a lake and have always had the 4th of July at their house since they bought it 35 years ago ! My mom's whole family always go.
My parents always go all out and have tons of food and desserts for everyone.
We spend the day swimming and boating and eating !!
Then at dusk the fireworks begin all around the lake !
It is a great day and brings back tons of memorys of my childhood watching my kids do the same things we all did.

No plans for us yet. Hopefully we will go on our friends boat... or go to my parents and hang out by the pool with our 1yr old. I think there are fireworks on Saturday in the town next to us.
