Anyone stop to ask if you can have them add stuff done at the self checkout? We haven't spent much since this started but its all been at the self checkout and we'd need it to hit the $400...

Ok, I did the Stimulus Check deal. It's a bit of a process- you do it at the Customer Service Desk- but not too huge a hassle.
Has to be in $300, $600 or $1200 increments. If your check is for more, they'll refund you the difference. It was not problem getting it on multiple gift cards, if you don't want to carry around a big balance on a single card.

I immediately used half of my cards to buy gas station gift cards. So, for the next few months, I'll be saving about 10% on groceries and 10% on gas.

I've been planning to do this...just hadn't gotten around to it yet! Did you have an actual refund check from the IRS, or did you have direct deposit? Ours was direct deposited, so I was actually just hoping to put the Shaw's card on my credit card...but wasn't sure how I had to prove our refund check amount! TIA!

Actual check, for me.
Guess you'll have to check with Customer Service regarding your direct deposit.

Yes! I didn't the first time, and I went to the self-checkout...the front end manager took a copy of my receipt(s) and faxed to Corp. It all worked out, I guess. I didn't really keep track of it.

I think I figured out how they do it, but I could be wrong. Take your total - tax + Manufacturer's Q's = Total for Promo. I don't think the store q's count, as well as the preferred savings discount (from your Shaw's card). Anyone else confirm this?

I did not have my refund check, as it was DD. I went in and told them I had direct deposit. You have to tell them how much you got back. I go in often and have many dealings with CS, so YMMV! I think you are supposed to show proof of deposit. HTH

I did not register for the grilling promotion (i.e.- tell the cashier) but at the bottom of my receipt this weekend, it told me how much more I have to spend to get to the $400.00. Maybe it is being tracked automatically by the rewards card.

Just thought I'd ring in here.

I was told that the computer tracks all receipts and that you need not do anything. No signing up or anything. I also use the self checkout all the time and all transactions have been counted.

While it may be working that way for you, it didn't for me. If you read the first term and condition in post #1, you'll see that by their own rules you have to opt in. They may have changed it midstream/midpromo. b/c they were getting too much paperwork to fix--i.e. too many people were using self-checkout w/out opting in 1st.

I have two opinions on the opting in/out bit: 1) You should have the choice to opt in or out if you want to...but to opt out completely, you'd have to not use your store card. 2) You're already allowing them to track your purchases and everything else that you do by having the card, so what's the point of making the customer take this extra step. (How much did they spend on those little stickers to put on our cards)?
